In the lead up to Prime Day, Amazon was offering a $10 promotional credit when buying $40 worth of Amazon gift cards.
Those $10 credits have been getting rolled out today, so you’ve hopefully already received your email confirming that it’s been loaded to your account.
My wife and I both received our emails this morning, but I hadn’t gotten around to using them yet. I was assuming we’d need to redeem the credits towards merchandise as that promotion included the following terms:
Promotional credits may not be redeemed for or applied toward the purchase of any gift cards sold at Amazon.com.
It turns out that’s not been hard coded by Amazon. Greg was able to place an order for a gift card and it took $10 off the total. It even stacked with the promotion offering $20 off when paying with at least 1 Citi ThankYou point. That meant he was able to pick up a $50 gift card for only $19.99 + 1 ThankYou point.
With gift card purchases being excluded in the terms of the promotion which gave the $10 credit, it might be best to redeem yours for a gift card ASAP if you’re wanting to go that route in case Amazon hard codes the exclusion going forward.
Did not work for a $50 account reload with discover.
[…] Update 10/14/20: $10 credit is working for gift card purchases as well and can be stacked with other discounts (e.g flexible point deals) credits are starting to hit accounts now. Hat tip to FM […]
Yes, I was able to use my $10 credit along with the $20 off $80 Amex promo when redeeming 1 Membership Reward point, bot a $90 Serius/XM gift card.
how did you able to pay the rest of balance (19.99) by using giftcard?
It was Greg who did that, so I’m not sure. I’m assuming he paid the balance on whichever Citi card he had linked in order to redeem the 1 ThankYou point.
