Google Pay is out with an excellent offer for Walgreens: Get 20% back up to $25 back when you pay online or in-store at participating locations in the US. This offer is an easy win for anyone who lives near Walgreens.

The Deal

  • Google Pay is offering 20% cash back at Walgreens (both in-store and online) when you sync up the offer in Google Pay and pay with your connected card.

Key Terms

  • Earn 20% cashback when you activate this offer and make a qualifying transaction with your enrolled card
  • Max of $25 back
  • Valid on Walgreens.com, in the Walgreens app (for pickup or delivery) as well as in-store at participating locations in the US. Not valid in US territories.
  • Offer automatically expires 45 days after activation if not used or the expiry date, whichever is sooner (expiry date shows August 17, 2021 for me)
  • You must be opted into Google Pay rewards and activate the offer
  • You do not have to use Google Pay to pay.

Quick Thoughts

Walgreens sells a lot of plastic, so it should be easy to find whatever kind of retail medicine is necessary to treat your deal fever. This is a very easy win. I added my Freedom Unlimited card to my Google Pay in order to earn 3x at drugstores while I’m picking up my free money.

Has anyone actually had this work for them when buying gift cards?

Dave

For me at least, the offer now shows as max of $50 cashback. The promo seems otherwise the same.

I just add my CC and updated the app but I don’t see the offer…? Any idea?

Carl

I had two instances earlier this year in which Google Pay didn’t pay out on rewards that I had earned. Both related to a promotion with similar terms – 20% off up to $50 from REI. In the first instance, in a single transaction at REI I purchased two gift cards $100 and $150 – a single transaction, a single invoice – but it posted onto my card as two transactions. I had evidence of it being a single transaction in the receipt. Google only give me $20 for the $100 card, and customer service for Google Pay was totally useless, really slow to respond, and never addressed the fact that I made a single transaction. Then I purchased a second $250 gift card on my wife’s account before the deadline – but no reward issued, and the promotion had disappeared from her account and they said that the quantity had been reached.

So I am quite wary of Google Pay promotions…

Lisa

Thanks. How do you sync up this offer? Do I need to add this offer to my Google Pay account?

Lisa

I figured it out. Thanks.
