Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is almost done! The last two weeks Greg, Nick, and Stephen competed to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines. But who completed the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
Delta has announced a number of enhancements to their SkyMiles program today. Among them is MQD earning on partner airlines, expanded award search options and 10,000 mile one-way redemptions on select routes when booked more than 21 days in advance.
With this announcement, Delta is joining United who also offers 10,000 mile one-way flights on shorter routes. With United any flight under 700 miles costs only 10,000 miles. Delta hasn’t released their criteria for the reduced price awards.
After performing a number of searches, it seems that the 10,000 mile one-way redemptions are limited to short haul routes. For example, I was able to find 10,000 point redemptions for a number of dates on LAS-LAX and FLL-ATL.
You can find more information about these improvements in their press release and in this Flyertalk thread.

Hey FM! If you had the means to earn Diamond status would you put pay the annual fees on the Delta Credit Cards or put the spend on SPG Amex, Ultimate Rewards, AA etc and earn points? Just curious as to your thoughts on whether the status would come first or you would concentrate on earning other currencies but no status.
Thanks
I do pay the annual fees and use them to earn status for my wife and I. In my case I also earn plenty of points in each of the other programs, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out. If you had to pick one or the other, my guess is that you would do better with other programs, but it really depends on how much you value elite status and the perks that come with it.
