Starting on Sunday 10/4/15, Staples is running a promotion (page 2) offering a $20 Staples gift card via rebate with the purchase of $300 or more in Mastercard gift cards. The last time they ran this promotion it only came with a $15 rebate, so this is slightly more generous.

The Deal

From 10/4/15 to 10/10/15 you can receive a $20 Staples gift card via Easy Rebate with the purchase of $300 or more in Mastercard gift cards.

Generally with these deals it is best to use a Chase Ink card to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points or an Amex SimplyCash card to earn 5% cash back at Staples.

Key Terms

  • Limit 1 per household
  • Available in-store only

The dollar amount is hard-coded, max $200 each card in my Staples, so you have to buy 2 cards to reach $300 to get the rebate, each card has activation fee of $6.95, that leaves us only making $6 after rebate, not worthwhile.

David

Some credit cards offer 5x rewards on office supply stores therefore making $6 off the rewards and another $20 on the gift card.

Can you still at these to Serve at a Walmart ATM? Last time I had issues loading in the new machines, as it wouldn’t take them.

josh

is this load able to redbird?

Greg The Frequent Miler

Yes

Robert Hanson

I’m confused, as the picture shows a normal MasterCard GC, which should be fine for RB loading. But the text says you get a “Staples GC”, which AFAIK can only be used at Staples.

Mike

Finally. They usually run these rebates at least once a month, especially in the summer, but I don’t think we’ve had one since the beginning of July.

Dealchaser

Yeah, I’m glad the dry spell is over!

Will

Concur. The phrase, “subject to availability” is the wild-card. Anybody recall if this rebate also works on the on-line purchase of these cards?

PS: Thanks for your links to previous resources — had forgotten some; learned a few new ideas. (like how to liquidate the Staples rebate cards)

Mike

@Will 1. the rebates are never been available for online purchases (and it’s mentioned in the post…) and 2. this rebate is on MasterCard gift cards, which they don’t even sell online.

will s

thanks for the detail Mike. Over the past few years, I’ve only ever bought the M/C g/c/ at Staples once… next week will be #2. (in store)

As for the eventual rebate, I was reminded I had a few $20 rebate Staples/Visa rebate cards laying around…. Shawn’s earlier post gave me the idea to liquidate them via Kroger — with the added kicker to try via the Kroger on-line gift card vehicle (which giftcardmall operates for Kroger)

Perhaps ya’all have long known this, yet a fund discovery for me that it worked. (and yes, got 4x credit for each purchase)
