The awesome St. Pancras Renaissance Chambers Club

St Pancras is a gorgeous London building that hosts a hotel (St. Pancras Renaissance, which is a Marriott property), residences, and a major train station (this is the home of the Eurostar, for example).  The hotel consists of two separate wings: the modern Barlow wing and the opulent Chambers wing.  The Chambers Club is a lounge within the Chambers wing.

Access: Titanium, but not Platinum

All guests staying in the Chambers wing get free access to the Chambers Club.  Of those staying in the Barlow wing, only Marriott Titanium and Ambassador elite guests get access.  Those familiar with Marriott’s program may notice that something isn’t right about that… Marriott Platinum elites are supposed to get free lounge access, but the St. Pancras hotel gives them free breakfast at the hotel restaurant instead.  They seem to get away with this by naming the Chambers Club a club rather than a lounge.

If you’re planning a stay at the St. Pancras Renaissance, I highly recommend ensuring that you have access to the Chambers Club during your stay.  There are three ways I know of to do so:

  1. Pay extra to stay in the Chambers Wing (see: St. Pancras Renaissance Junior Suite. Wow!)
  2. Apply Suite Night Awards to your stay to get a room in the Chambers Wing (see this post for details)
  3. Get Titanium status before your stay (see: Marriott Bonvoy… Shortcuts to Elite Status)

Club Overview

The Chambers is a gorgeous and spacious area in the Chambers Wing.  Chambers staff are almost always present and eager to help you with anything you need (drinks, concierge services, etc.).

  • Daily Hours: 6:30am to 11:30pm
  • Breakfast Monday to Friday: 6:30am to 10:30am
  • Breakfast Saturdays & Sundays: 6:30am to 12:00pm
  • Afternoon Tea: 2:30pm to 5:00pm
  • Pre-Dinner Canapes: 5:30pm to 7:30pm
  • Complementary wine & beer: 3:00pm to 10:00pm daily.
  • A-la-carte menu for dining-in (charged to room): 11:00am to 10:00pm

Breakfast

A full breakfast buffet is available each morning.  The buffet includes a wide variety of breads, meats, fish, granola, oatmeal, juices, fruit, etc.  There are always a couple of hot items available too (usually eggs, sausage, and mushrooms), but you can also order made-to-order eggs or omelettes.  Club staff visit each table to check on your needs, refill your coffee, and take breakfast orders.

Afternoon Tea

The St. Pancras tea service is awesome.  If you’re looking for something sweet, they seriously have you covered.  Or, if you haven’t yet adapted to the local time zone and you’re ready for lunch or dinner, the little tea sandwiches are terrific (I especially liked the round ones for some reason).  And yes, the tea was great too (don’t forget to let it steep for a few minutes!).

Pre-Dinner Canapes

The canapes food selection was often good enough to serve as an early dinner in a pinch.  Desserts were usually delicious and/or beautiful.  I wish they would serve the desserts later in the evening though.

Beer & Wine

I’m far (very far) from being a wine connoisseur, but I enjoyed every wine I tried (sorry, I don’t remember which they were).  I also liked the beer, but I’ve forgotten which beer I tried too!

Our family of 4 is going to London and on the Marriott site it says only 3 can stay in the Junior suites in the Chambers area. Do you think it would be difficult to “sneak” a fourth in? It’s a BIG jump in price to go up to the next larger room, and being at platinum elite level there may be a chance of getting an upgrade for free. Worst case we could bring our own sleep pad for the fourth and still come out way ahead over having to pay for a larger room.

It’s about a $700/night difference, so I’d be willing to bear a fair amount of stress.

[…] I recently stayed with my wife and son at the St. Pancras Renaissance London in a gorgeous Junior Suite.  Suites are located in the elegant Chambers wing of the hotel, which is a huge step up from the modern Barlow wing.  And, all Chambers wing rooms have access to the awesome Chambers Club lounge (which I reviewed previously, here). The Chambers Suites and Chambers Club are awesome. I stayed t here last year and booked another stay this past June. Unfortunately a couple days before my June stay I received an email stating a group had extended their stay so I would be moved to the Barlow Wing however I would retain Club access and 15,000 points compensation. I was livid as I had booked the room with points 8 months earlier. I told them I had no interest in the Barlow wing, I was entitled to Club access anyway because of my status and 15,000 points was nothing as I paid 180,000 points plus a fee for the Chambers suite. Bottom line I escalated my case to the Hotel manager and was given a suite in The Grosenvor at no charge for 3 nights plus 90,000 bonus points. I was pleased with the way the manager handled my complaint and I look forward to a stay in the Chambers Suites again next year with the promise of a upgrade.

I just left there a couple days ago. That’s a pretty cool lounge but if you are just gold then you get all of those same benefits but in the lobby which is really nice as well. They have a couple snack menus that you can pick from daily in the lobby as well.

How was the level of crowding? Was it busy to the point you could see why they kicked out Golds?

Did you see Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift destroy a hotel room?

Lovely hotel in Russell Square area. I love the area and easy walk to the theaters. Great Info about the Club!
How many points per night for the room? Maybe, I missed it…
