A new transfer bonus popped up this morning to Air France / KLM Flying Blue. In this case, you’ll get 25% more miles when transferring from Chase Ultimate Rewards through 5/15/23.
The Deal
- Get a 25% bonus when transferring to Air France / KLM Flying Blue from Chase Ultimate Rewards from 4/1/23 to 5/15/23
Quick Thoughts
I sometimes find solid award deals through Flying Blue. This transfer bonus could certainly come in handy, whether you’re using it for one of the monthly Flying Blue Promo Rewards or even on a non-discounted award. My family is booked to fly Air France business class on one of our trips to Europe this year because children’s tickets (for ages 2-11) come at a 25% discount on long-haul routes, which brought our average cost per passenger below 50K miles one-way in business class (plus taxes & fees of course).
See Air France / KLM Flying Blue Sweet Spots for award travel for tips on ways to leverage these miles to great value — and keep in mind that this transfer bonus makes those sweet spots a bit sweeter yet. Just be sure to find award availability before you transfer — I wouldn’t recommend transferring speculatively since we do typically see transfer bonuses to Air France pop up a few times a year.

I was just able to book LAX-Dublin Business return thru Schipol with KLM for 119k miles and $479 mid August. Bonus miles transferred over instantly from Chase
I see 1000 Capital One Miles = 1000 Flying Blue Miles for venture x 🙁
Because the bonus is on Chase Ultimate rewards
Hey Nick, what does your crystal ball say about forthcoming Amex bonus transfers to Flying Blue? I have 3x as many Amex points right now and I’d prefer to keep my UR for Hyatt. Ideally I’ll fly the fam to Amsterdam next summer or fall (bus class).
My crystal ball isn’t as good as our record keeping.

You can go to the expired transfer bonuses and search for Air France. You’ll see that in 2022, they offered a 25% transfer bonus from Amex to Flying Blue in May, September, and November last year.
In 2021, they offered them in July, September, and November.
I wouldn’t read too far into the September / November thing — remember that the second half of 2021 is really when pandemic restrictions started to ease up more, but really people were only kind of back to traveling so I feel like 2021 data is anecdotal at best. Still, they offered a bonus three times each year, so I would not expect that Amex will fail to offer one for the rest of the year.
You continue to be gracious and generous with your knowledge. You and Greg have improved my (and my family’s) quality of life.
I’m grateful (and am sure to use your cc application links.). Thank you, Nick!
Has anyone used Flying Blue to go to Asia? I’m looking to go to Japan next April. I *did* have enough Alaska points, but…I should have seen that deval coming.
Thanks for anyone with advice!
This is a winner for me – I just used 12k points pus something like $14US to fly from Mendoza, Argentina to Rosario ( 1 hr.10 min flight)- would have been a 12 hour plus bus ride – Booked with AF/KLM partner with Aerolineas Argentina and used Austral metal – This transfer is definitely for me
anybody try this yet? I transferred UR points earlier today, the 1:1 transfer went through but I haven’t received the 25% bonus yet
the fine print says — “Bonus Miles will be awarded by Flying Blue in your Flying Blue account up to 7 days after the points transfer is completed.”
I transferred 64k over at the crack of dawn today to use for an 80k mile reward and the bonus miles transferred over at the same time.
I guess I’ll be throwing good points after bad, gotta top up to the since devalued award level, and keep my points from expiring.
