American Express Membership Rewards has added a 20% bonus for transfer to Air France/KLM Flying Blue for transfers through 11/10/24. With business class to Europe starting at 50K miles one-way, this could be an attractive opportunity for folks that can find availability.

The Deal
- Get a 20% bonus when transferring American Express Membership Rewards to Air France/KLM Flying Blue
Terms and Conditions
- Expires 11/10/24
- Minimum transfer is 1,000 Membership Rewards points
Quick Thoughts
Flying Blue has several sweet spots that can make them very attractive, with the caveat that fuel surcharges can be significant. That said, we tend to find way more “saver” space on Flying Blue than with other SkyTeam partners like Delta or Virgin Atlantic and with prices starting at 50K one-way from the US-Europe in business class, there’s plenty of juice to squeeze.
Best Uses for Air France / KLM Flying Blue miles
- Air France Flying Blue Promo Rewards. Each month, Air France offers discounted award rates for a number of routes. Sometimes we see economy flights from the US to Europe available for less than 11,000 miles one-way.
- Fly to Israel for the same award price as to Europe. For example, you may see business class flights from the U.S. to Tel Aviv for as low as 60,000 miles one-way.
- Delta economy flights between the US and Hawaii for 17,500 miles one-way. Air France also has great award prices for Delta first class to Hawaii, but Delta rarely releases first class award space on its Hawaii routes.
Things to know
- Air France awards usually incur taxes and fees.
- Award availability can be hard to find. Acquire Flying Blue miles only if you know that the awards you want are available.
- Flying Blue miles expire 2 years after the last activity on the account. Moving points from a transferrable program to Flying Blue now resets that clock, making it very easy to keep miles from expiring.

I have flown KLM to Italy business class several times for 50K (less with transfer bonuses), but I have not been able to find any for a few months now. Travel later this month or November. They seem to have abandoned it.
Amex transfer bonuses to FlyingBlue have consistently been 25% since at least 2018. Disappointed to see only 20%.
a lot of people were speculating this when the 20k MR offer for Flying Blue came out, and there we have it!
