Chase Bonvoy Boundless: Five Marriott 50K free night certificates back again

13

We’ve periodically seen an offer on Chase’s Bonvoy Boundless card to earn five Marriott free night certificates, each valid for a night costing up to 50,000 points (though you could also top off with up to 15,000 additional points per night) after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months. That deal is back again and can be highly valuable if you can maximize the use of the certificates.

This offer is currently available via referral links. If you have the capacity to do a household referral, it will add even more points to the total haul.

Quick Thoughts

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card can easily be worth the cost of its annual fee given the annual 35K free night certificate, which can be topped off with up to an additional 15,000 points. With increasing hotel prices, I have had a number of situations where a 35K certificate has gotten me a room selling for $300-$400 per night and even a bit more.

This offer, which we’ve seen a few times over the past couple of years, can be highly valuable given the fact that it comes with free night certificates that are each worth up to 50,000 points (and you can top them off with up to 15,000 additional points per night). At that level, it is very easy to find hotels that are otherwise charging more than $300 per night (and quite a bit more in some cases). That means you could get incredible value out of this welcome offer.

However, there are some factors that might dissuade some. For starters, the free night certificates are valid for a year from the date they are issued. Also, certificates are less flexible than points since you can’t split up a single certificate to book multiple nights, but even still this offer is pretty strong. Even if you only managed to use the certificates for nights that would otherwise cost a bit less than 50K, it should be easy to get well over $1,000 in value out of the welcome offer.

It’s worth double-checking the Marriott credit card eligibility matrix before applying to be sure that you are eligible for a specific Marriott credit card:

I earned a welcome bonus for Bonvoy Bevy card in March 2023 and a retention bonus of 50,000 in June 2024 when I tried to close the card. I could like to cancel the Bevy and apply for the Boundless card under this 5 night offer. I think if I close the Bevy and wait a month, I can apply?

Dean

I currently have the Boundless card, but earned the SUB more than 24 months ago. Do I need to product change before applying for this offer? And if so, do I need to wait a certain amount of time after PC to increase my approval odds?

Ray

When the (5) free night certificates are issued, does the one year expiration date start from the date of the card opening? Or the date where the $5k spend requirement is reached?

Viv

From the data of the cert issue (which is a couple of days after either the spend is reached or the statement period in which the spend is reached closes).

John

I made the mistake of getting the Amex Marriott Business. I didn’t know about the matrix or FM for that matter. Live and learn.

I’m hoping this is perfect timing for me. I received a bold bonus early July of 2023. I cancelled the card a year ago when they devalued it. I think the cutoff to apply is 7/17. I’ll be at 2/24 when I apply.

JC

Meh. No thanks.

FNC’s are subject to unannounced category changes at any time. Points may be diluted, but FNC’s can become completely unacceptable to a property overnight. 65k point/night properties are not worth it to me.

Hilton has the only FNC’s worth earning, for me. Bonvoy and Hyatt FNCs are not worth it, for me.

Ben

I got the Brilliant in October of 2023, and earned the welcome bonus in December. Am I reading the matrix correctly that I’m locked out of the Boundless until 1/1/2026?

Alex

Does Chase offer bonus availability check / verification, as AmEx does before applying?

Lon

Not that I know of, but I sure wish they did.

Buzz

You can look back in your points activity to see in what year your last bonus was.
