Some American Express cardholders are seeing a new offer card-linked offer for 8% back Hotels.com.
The Deal
- A new targeted Amex Offer is out that is good for 8% back at Hotels.com, up to $90 back, when first enrolling in the offer and then booking online at hotels.com/amex. Unlike some offers, previous reports indicate that you do need to book through that link to get the credit.
Key Terms
- Expires 10/14/25
- Enrollment is limited. Eligible Card Members must first add offer to Card and then use same Card for qualifying spend. Only US-issued American Express® Cards are eligible.
- Limit of $90 in total statement credits per eligible Card Member. If the Card Account is canceled or past due, it may not qualify to receive the statement credit(s).
- Offer valid for pre-paid hotel purchases made online through the hotels.com/amex link using the pre-paid option at checkout (“pay now”) only.
- Excludes “pay at property” purchases and purchases made over the phone.
- Excludes all other purchases not made at hotels.com/amex link using the pre-paid option at checkout.
- Use of third party cashback offers, promotion codes coupons, or browser extensions will invalidate this offer.
- Excludes gift cards, groups & meetings, vacation rentals/packages, and car rentals.
- American Express identifies qualifying transactions based on information provided by the participating merchant.
- Offer valid only on purchases made in US dollars.
- Offer only valid on purchases made directly with the merchant. Offer not valid on purchases made using third parties, such as resellers, delivery services, or other intermediaries.
Quick Thoughts
This could make for a good deal if you have a prepaid booking to make at Hotels.com and there is no greater rate of return available elsewhere.
That said, you should certainly shop around. A look at the 15-month rate history at Cashbackmonitor.com shows that shopping portal rates often reach as high as 8-10% back. I recently had a targeted Capital One Shopping offer for 15% back at Hotels.com (now expired).
All that is to say that the 8% back included in this card-linked offer is a good but not earth-shattering rate for Hotels.com purchases.
For those tempted to try to stack, it is worth noting that past reports have indicated that clicking through a shopping portal rather than the hotels.com/amex link probably won’t work to trigger the offer. In other words, just as the terms indicate, it seems that you can not stack this offer.
However, provided that you don’t have access to a better rate and you want to book through hotels.com and you haven’t found an opportunity to buy a gift card at an even greater savings, you could potentially save a few bucks here.

I was looking for something like this yesterday. I ended up buying a $500 hotels.com GC at a grocery store with Blue Cash Preferred (6%), and then used Swagbucks portal for 8% cash back. Plus, potentially another 10% (maybe more) discount when redeeming SB for select GCs. It worked out better.
