Quick Thoughts
Getting $75 back when spending $300 is a 25% return, although the actual percentage savings will depend on how much your final bill is. If your bill – including both room rate and any charges to your room such as food, parking, pet fees, etc. – total $600 or more and you have this Amex Offer on two household cards, you can ask the hotel to split the payment at checkout in order to get two $75 statement credits.
Do note that this Amex Offer is only valid at select Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric, Grand Hyatt, Destination by Hyatt, and Hyatt brand properties; you can find the full list here.
If you’ll be staying at an eligible property after the Amex Offer expiry date of June 30, you could contact the property and ask if they could take payment now or, at the very least, charge $300 to your folio in order to lock in the savings.
It might be possible to take advantage of this offer even if you don’t have any stays planned at eligible properties. If you have one of those hotels near you, you could see if they sell physical gift cards at the front desk. If they do, buying a $300 physical Hyatt gift card should also work to trigger the statement credit from the Amex Offer. Gift card purchases are listed as being excluded, but that’s more relating to Hyatt gift cards purchased online as payment is processed by a third party. Gift card purchases in person have worked in the past; you just need to find both an eligible property and one that has – and knows how to sell – gift cards.
