A few days ago we shared a deal running at Albertsons and its affiliate stores that could save you up to $25 on Visa gift cards. They’re now offering a similar deal on Mastercard gift cards that can save you up to $25.
With both of the digital coupons providing the opportunity to make a small profit (before liquidation costs), it’s worth considering if you have a store near you that uses the Just For U program.
The Deals
- Albertsons and other stores using Just For U have the following digital coupons available to load to your account:
Key Terms
- Expires September 7, 2019.
- Limit 1 per household.
Quick Thoughts
The $50 cards come with activation fees of $4.95, while the $100 cards have activation fees of $5.95. That means you’ll make a profit of $0.10 and $3.10 respectively.
Pay with a card that earns more at grocery stores (e.g. the Amex Gold card earns 4x Membership Rewards) in order to make this deal even more rewarding.
These digital coupons should be available if your stores uses the Just For U program which includes Safeway, Albertsons, Shaw’s, Vons and Tom Thumb.
People need to know, in your article, that these are regional offers and not available nation wide. I never see them in the Intermountain West. Please add this info to your article.
I didn’t actually realize these were regional – I was under the impression that the digital coupons were available if your local store used Just For U.
Just to check, have you done a search for ‘Mastercard’ in the coupons section of your Just For U account? The link above is for the offer on Safeway’s website, but if your local store is an Albertsons, Shaw’s, etc, it might be that you’d need to load the coupon on the Just For U section on their site.
Hey, give me some credit–Yes I did search the Just 4 U app. I know the President for my area and he told me each Region decides what to offer on the app. We only have ALB stores in my area.
I went to my own Safeway Just For U account and all I found was a Univision Prepaid Debit Card (Mastercard logo) for $2 off. It had an ADD button. I followed both of your links and could see the page you have in your screenshot, but no ADD button. I am in California. Anybody know if California/Safeway isn’t getting this deal or if it is “In Store Only”. I assumed I would have to add the deal to my Just For U to use it.
I thought the Amex Gold no longer earns points for gift card purchases?
It does at Grocery stores as AMEX doesn’t have Level 3 data for supermarkets it doesn’t seem like. I’ve had no problems getting 4X points with the Gold AMEX
Just be aware that places like Von’s have a SERIOUS issue with variable cards getting drained. I’ve purchased a $500 VGC and it got drained almost immediately within a few hours. I have a friend that has had two $500 VGC’s drained quickly as well. The problem seems rampant in San Diego. All the cards are getting drained in Hemet, California.
You would think Blackhawk would simply contact the places they are getting drained (Family Dollar in Hemet, California) and ask to see the video security footage but I believe they want to keep it quiet. They sent me a replacement card within 7 days but it’s a real hassle to deal with it. I had to send in my receipt, activation code receipt, copy of the front/back of the card. And fill out a form. A real pain in the ass to deal with.
The packaging is neatly tampered with. I couldn’t tell on the one that it happened to me. The only tell is if it doesn’t have any sticky tab on it. Or on another card it seems like the thief put sticky glue right on the magnetic strip so you couldn’t swipe it so I quickly drained it before they could.
Just be careful at Von’s as the problem seems like a big issue there. Inspect the packaging really carefully and make sure they have the sticky tab on it.
