Quick Thoughts

There are some great deals available, such as 20% off when buying $100 worth of Lyft gift cards, $15 promo credits when buying Apple gift cards, 20% off many other brands and more.

There are a few important things to be aware of before making a purchase. Some of these deals are for eGift cards, while others are for physical gift cards, so if speed of delivery and/or form of gift card is important to you, be sure to buy the correct type. For example, you can get $15 Amazon promo credits when buying $100 of Apple gift cards and that deal is available on both digital and physical gift cards.

Speaking of Amazon promo credits, be aware that those are a little more restrictive than they once were. You used to be able to redeem them when buying further gift cards, but that’s no longer the case. I think you can only redeem them for products shipped and sold by Amazon too, so if the future items you want to buy are sold by and/or shipped by an Amazon Marketplace seller, I don’t believe those will be an eligible redemption option for promo credits. The promo credits also expire at some future date (I think you usually get 2-3 months to redeem them), so that’s another thing to factor in before purchasing any deals offering those credits.

One of the nice things about these deals is that you don’t have to buy the specific denominations listed for the deal – you can buy smaller denominations provided they add up to the required threshold. For example, the Lyft gift card deal gives a $20 instant discount when spending $100. That means you could buy, for example, four $25 Lyft eGift cards rather than a $100 denomination.

Don’t forget that Amazon is one of the 5% categories on Discover It cards this quarter. There are also some Pay With Points offers out there for various credit card types. For example, I’d been targeted for an offer giving $10 off when redeeming at least one Discover point, so I was able to take advantage of that additional discount while also earning 5% on my purchase.

For the $15 amazon credit looking at the T&C it’s seems to be only on stuff sold and fulfilled by amazon?

Darlene

Stephen, have you ever verified if Lyft charges more if you have loaded GCs as one poster said?

Darlene

thanks for your speedy reply, tho. Perhaps some readers could chime in!

By the way, is the Lyft GC discount only available today?

The problem with Lyft and Uber , and noted previously by others, is prices for transport are higher when you have gift card credits. With uber you can spend the credit on EATS.
Instacart is 20 pct off at Costco, rather than a 15 pct credit, and from time to time they seem to not limit the amount purchased .

I have tested this theory several times with other people’s accounts, and fortunately enough I have never run into the problem.
I have actually seen mine still be cheaper, and I always have some for of gift card, or AMEX credit on my account.
I almost exclusively use gift cards since Costco has been having them discounted long term.
you can buy 4 every 14 days.
