American Express has decided to spread some holiday cheer and make a good card even better.
I just noticed that Amex has added a new and seemingly unannounced benefit to the Business Platinum card: $200 in annual Hilton credit. This works just like the $200 credits that already exist on the Hilton Surpass card, where it’s metered out in $50/quarter increments that can’t be banked. The only difference is that enrolling in the benefit also signs you up for Hilton for Business (if you haven’t already).
The Deal
- The American Express Business Platinum card now has a benefit for up to $200 in annual Hilton credit (up to $50 per quarter).
- Enrollment required
- You will be enrolled in Hilton for Business when you activate the benefit (there’s no need to sign up for it first).

Quick Thoughts
Wow, this is unexpected. I’m not sure why Amex hasn’t trumpeted the addition of this new Hilton credit, but I’ll take it!
At first I thought that it was a mistake of some sort, but it’s on all of our household Business Platinum cards and the wording makes it clear that it’s in fact a new card benefit:
NEW! Get up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year (up to $50 per quarter) when you enroll in the $200 Hilton Statement Credit Benefit with your Business Platinum Card through American Express. Purchases must be made directly with a property in the Hilton portfolio on your Business Platinum Card.
While it’s irritating how Amex always breaks these things up, this is one that will undoubtedly be useful for many folks. It’s a welcome addition to the $200 airline incidental, $400 Dell and and $120 wireless credits that already exist on the card.
For much of 2024, there was a rumor that the Dell credit would be going away (until they were recently extended). However, instead of nerfing that, Amex added a brand new one, instead. Seeing this come right at the end of the year does make me wonder if we’ll see some further shuffling in 2025, with some other benefits reduced or altered in some way. For now, though, let’s not look a gift Hilton credit in the mouth.
Happy Holidays from American Express!
Dp: enrolled on amex without having a prior Hilton business account. Got my confirmation email minutes later. Bought a personal gift card for $51.95 online minutes after that. Received an email from amex 2 days later that I received my $50 credit.
My only concern is actually being able to use the gift cards. Ive read on DoC that most folks have a hard time but there’s some work around (using apple pay and not even mentioning it’s a gift card). Not sure if Google pay also works.
Bought a Hilton gift card with this, $50 credit posted 3 days later.
Works!
Did you buy it online? Or physically at a Hilton property?
I wonder if this would work by eating at a restaurant in a Hilton property hotel?
It will
for those who have not yet bought gc, they may have lost on opportunity for Q4. there’s a banner running on their website stating that it may be weeks —–
We are currently experiencing an inventory outage, which will result in a delay in fulfilling your order beyond our standard processing and shipping timeframes. If you wish to continue with your purchase, we hope to have inventory available in the coming weeks and will ship your order as soon as possible. Thank you.
It should be fine. The charge processes immediately after purchase. I bought four today.
shoot – same boat. Hoping that the charge “posts” right away and it doesn’t stay pending until it ships.
Bought Friday also, got an email this morning from Amex that the $50 credit has posted.
Dumb question: Will it work for credits that are charged in euros? I’ve had trouble with Uber credits that were charged in euros in the past. Thanks!
My purchase from https://www.buyhiltongiftcards.com/ triggered the credit next day.
That’s the data point we’ve been looking for!!! Thanks!
You are a true hero
Does personal gift card work, or does it have to be business gift card?
Did you select “gift cards for consumers” or “gift cards for business?” Does it matter? Know its a “business credit.”
consumers I guess. I bet it doesn’t matter.
did you wait a day to buy the gift card after enrolling or right away?
Minutes after I got the confirmation email from Hilton that I was enrolled.
I immediately enrolled as I have upcoming Hilton stays in Dec 2024 and Jan 2025, and it will auto-enroll your Hilton account in Hilton for Business if you enroll your Amex Business Platinum. No need to sign up separately!

I literally chatted w/ Amex yesterday asking for a retention offer and the agent never mentioned this – but, rattled through all the other perks (Dell, airline, wireless, etc)… no retention offer (we got one last year – and oddly, the agent mentioned that – lol!?) We will still likely cancel the Biz Plat and P2 will become an AU of my Plat.
They mentioned it because traditionally they only offer a retention offer every other year.
really? perhaps… but we rec’d one three years in a row – we’ve had card since 2019… i guess YMMV
I chatted for retention on Tuesday, and no mention of this. Wondering if the Agents were surprised about it too.
I hope you’re holding an Amex Plat MS card, for the first AU (with Centurion lounge access for AU) is Free in that variant. This normally costs $175 in the other variants.
no, I am not… I had thought about getting a Schwab Plat since I hold investments there… good to know about MS though…
