Amex Business Platinum Card® welcome offer is now as high as 300K bonus points

2

In recent weeks/months, there have been sporadic appearances of an as high as 300K bonus point welcome offer for the Business Platinum Card® from American Express. That’s shown up sometimes on referral links, in mailers, and even on Google even when searching for things completely unrelated to credit cards.

The good thing is that you no longer have to cross your fingers and hope that this offer will show up as direct links to the card now display this (potentially) highest ever offer.

Quick Thoughts

A welcome offer for as high as 300,000 bonus Membership Rewards is the highest publicly available offer we’ve ever seen on the Business Platinum Card®, so it’s a superb welcome bonus.

The catch is that there’s no guarantee you’ll be offered 300,000 points as your welcome offer given the ‘as high as’ wording. For example, I mentioned above that recently this offer sometimes showed up on Google. I know that because I came across it in the wild earlier this month and decided to apply, even though I already have a few Business Platinum cards. Despite the offer having lifetime language I was approved, but only for a welcome bonus of 200,000 bonus points rather than 300,000. That was a little disappointing, but it was an approval and 200,000 points was the highest publicly available offer at the time anyway, so I didn’t feel too hard done by.

There’s no guarantee that the consolation prize for not being offered 300,000 points is 200,000 points though; it could potentially be even lower than that, or it might be something in the 200,000-300,000 range.

Our first year estimated value for someone being offered 300,000 bonus points is more than $4,000 when taking into account the value of the points and its other benefits, with that value being the amount after taking into account the $895 annual fee. That’s an incredible amount of value, but it’s worth calculating the value for yourself based on your own valuations for the points and benefits. That said, no matter how you slice and dice it: earning as high as 300,000 points is an incredible bonus. I remember something like 10 years ago when many of us salivated over the elusive 100,000 welcome offer on the consumer American Express Platinum Card® at the time; now as high as 300,000 bonus points is publicly available.

Referral and affiliate links don’t appear to be displaying this new as high as 300,000 points offer yet, at least not on a consistent basis anyway. We’ve therefore added a direct link to this offer to our Best Offers page despite us not earning a commission as we always want to display the best offer.

I imagine the referral link situation at least will change in the coming days, so if it’s not urgent that you get this card immediately and your partner has another Amex card that they can refer you from, it might be worth waiting in order for them to pick up the bonus points for referring you (or vice versa).
