Key Terms
These are both excellent deals as it means you can get $100 back from both retailers when placing orders online. If you would’ve been spending that money at Best Buy and Home Depot anyway, that $200 will be almost as good as cash.
The terms mention that you have to have been a personal Platinum cardholder since before November 1, 2020. That appears to be enforced as I had these offers on my Schwab Platinum which I’ve held for more than a year, but not on my new Platinum card I got when taking advantage of the recent 100k offer.
Note that these offers are only valid online and not in-store. With the Home Depot offer, “ship to home” and “ship to store” purchases are eligible but not orders to be picked up in-store, so keep an eye out for that when placing an order.
With the Best Buy Amex Offer, eGift card purchases are excluded. However, that term is likely inserted due to CashStar processing payment for Best Buy eGift cards. Best Buy sells many third party gift cards online – both physical and digital – and processes payment for those themselves, so buying those should trigger the statement credit if you wouldn’t be spending $50 twice at Best Buy organically.
Enrollment for both of these offers is limited, so add these to your Platinum card ASAP in case they don’t remain available to load for long.
Can you stack this with PayPal benefit? Thanks!
Unfortunately not – if you pay via PayPal you’d forgo the $100 benefit as it wouldn’t be a direct payment.
This also doesn’t work for those who jumped on the 75K SUB you guys were promoting in November just before the 100K and 125K offers came out. 🙁 I signed up on November 12 based on your recommendation, but only got the 75K offer, and these new offers aren’t available to me either.
Sour grapes taste bad
Since these say “one of more transactions,” a single $100 transaction should trigger the full $100 credit, right? I thought this is how it worked with prior offers written this way.
Just bought an Apple Watch and immediately got an email that I earned $100 credit
Do we really think “Pick up in-store” orders won’t work?
When Amex includes specific terms like that, it’s usually because they know in advance that something won’t work. I’m not sure how those are processed by Home Depot, but my guess is that it’s the store which charges you which would result in it not being a HomeDepot.com purchase.
That said, if you were going to be buying something from Home Depot anyway and “Pick up in-store” is the only option, it doesn’t hurt to try paying with an Amex Platinum with this offer enrolled just in case it does happen to work.
The Home Depot offer is actually trickier to use than I thought due to in-store pickup not being eligible. Many of their EcoSmart LED bulbs I’d like to buy are *only* available for in-store pickup. Ship to home isn’t an option.

Only 1 / 5. Four of those cards were opened years ago.
Awesome offers. P2 has Best Buy & home depot on personal plat that’s been open a couple years, but my Schwab Plat that I opened before 11/1/20 doesn’t have any – so it seems targeted even amongst the before 11/1/20 crowd.
Sorry to hear. My Schwab Plat (opened May 2020) has both offers.
Bummer. I’d recommend checking again each day. Sometimes Amex slow rolls out these deals. Also, if you have 100 offers available, it may help to add some until you have less than 100 so that new offers can show up.
I also only saw the Home Depot offer. I then added ~15 offers to the card. Logged out and back in and saw the Best Buy offer as well.
