The Deal

Get 6 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points for each dollar spent on eligible purchases at Amazon, Target and Walmart after using your enrolled Card by 12/27/2020, up to $3,500.

Terms

You will receive 6 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points for each dollar spent (for a total of 8 points) with your enrolled Card on eligible purchases at Amazon, Target and Walmart from the time you enroll through 12/27/2020 on up to $3,500 in total eligible spend. Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem. Only purchases made with your Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card or Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card are eligible. Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels. Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to the Basic Card Member. Offer is non-transferable. An “eligible transaction” means a purchase made with your enrolled Card on or before 12/27/2020. Offer valid only for purchases made with Amazon, Target and Walmart. Purchases with Amazon must be made at Amazon’s US website or via the US Amazon mobile app. Purchases with Target must be made in-store at locations in the US, online at Target’s US website or by using Target’s US mobile app. Purchases with Walmart must be made in-store at locations in the US, online at Walmart’s US website or by using Walmart’s US mobile app. Amazon corporate gift cards and custom-designed gift cards are excluded. International sites owned and/or operated by Amazon or websites affiliated with/linked to/from Amazon, Amazon Go, Amazon Local, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Home & Business Services, Amazon Currency Converter, Home Services, Prime Photos, Amazon Inspire, Amazon Video Direct, Amazon business, Amazon Global, and Amazon Drive are excluded. Walmart purchases made at an international version of the merchant’s website are excluded. Online and in-store layaway, contact lens, photo services, recurring subscription services (for example, Beauty Box and Baby Box), insurance services, in store pharmacy transactions, auto services, protection plans, Walmart MoneyCenter, and Walmart Care Clinic are also excluded. Offer valid only on eligible purchases made and shipped within the U.S. Some merchants may not ship to all areas. See each merchant website for shipping policy. You may not receive the bonus points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for the offer. For example, you may not receive the bonus points if (a) the Merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or (b) the Merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or (c) you choose to make a purchase using a third party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet. Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date). Note that we may not receive information about your qualifying purchase until all items from your eligible purchase have been provided/shipped by Merchant. Limit one enrolled Card per American Express Card online account. The enrolled Card account must be active, not be past due, canceled or have a returned payment outstanding to receive the bonus points. These bonus points are in addition to any points you would normally receive for purchases on your Card under the terms of the Marriott Bonvoy member account, but the number of bonus points you receive will be based on the purchase price after any credit or other discount is applied. Bonus points will be credited to your member account within 90 days after 12/27/2020, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. We may not credit bonus points to, or we may take away bonus points that have been credited to, your member account if the qualifying purchase is returned or cancelled. My Take

This offer should be available to all cardholders of consumer Amex Marriott Bonvoy cards. We’ve been told that business cardholders will also receive an offer in the next few weeks.

Since Amex Marriott cards earn a minimum of 2 points per dollar on spend, this offer means that you can earn 8X at Amazon, Target, and Walmart.  With Marriott points worth about 0.7 cents each, earning a total of 8X is like a 5.6% rebate.  That’s very good.

What does one do if the offer is not showing on their account? Already far fewer than 100 offers, so that’s not it.

I think .7 cents is a dramatic overstatement. 0.5 cents would be about right. Price out any hotel in California right now. Any. Single. One.

I am finding it to be a bad time to use almost any points currency. I think it is because travel is down and paid rates are lower than usual, at least where I am going. I was looking for a 5 night stay in an extended stay type property in the Phoenix area around Christmas. with Marriott (including with getting the 5th night free on award stays), I was getting about 0.48-0.7 cents/point. With Hyatt I was getting only about 0.75 cents/point. Given that Hilton has dynamic award pricing, I was getting 0.73 cents/point. It is weird to see Hilton being the best points option.

@NK3 and @Greg – I agree generally speaking, there have been better deals to be had with paying cash these days. However, I’ve had two Hyatt stays recently: one for 5 days and the other for 2 days and I was able to get 2.7 and 3.2 centers/point when considering the 25% rebate for having the WOH card. Also, if you factor in not having to pay parking it could be even more. Now, I do realize not everyone has the WOH card, but Hyatt hands down has outside value.

A round of applause, you found one of two examples. (The other is the Ritz Laguna Niguel.) For reference there are 529 Marriotts in California.

I do not have this Amex offer on my Bonvoy Brilliant card. And no email either.

what is custom-designed gift cards are excluded??

My real question can I BUY Amazon gift cards for myself and add to my amazon account to get the 8 points?

bill

Thanks– youare the BEST

Straight Chiilin

What has more value, 3x on Hyatt or this offer?

Straight Chiilin

thanks! Presume amex promo excludes Wal Mart Grocery?

VIP

Got it. Thanks for all you do.

DSK

Thanks–found it in my AMEX Offers. Only issue is I’ll take 5x Hyatt points or 5x United miles on Amazon purchases, Walmart is better with Freedom and Freedom Flex this quarter, and this is only marginally better than Discover for Target.com. Lots of repeat bonus categories for November and December!

VIP

Marriott has Target store purchases, makes it that much better especially if you are close to a super target.

Isavethings

Don’t have that, but do have a new 6x bonus points for spend at Marriott until 12/27

Isavethings

Actually, it didn’t show up in my offers, but I did receive an email telling me the offer has been activated. Strange
