Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is happening now! Follow us as Greg, Nick, and Stephen compete to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines before November 23rd. Who will complete the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
This week at Frequent Miler, we answered the timeless question “Can you get the same credit card again?” as well as the just-in-time question “Should you sign up now for the new Hilton 100K offers?”. We also showed how it’s possible to book international premium economy for less than coach; we took a look at Delta’s new upgrade rules; we showed how to deal with Hyatt nights not posting; and we took a comical behind the scenes look at the world of brands and influencers. Read on for all that in this Frequent Miler week in review.
Can you get the same credit card again?
That’s the wrong question. The right question is “can you get a signup bonus when applying for a card you’ve had before?” The good news is that the answer is yes. The bad news is that there may be significant hurdles to overcome (such as waiting 7 years). I’ve broken down the details by bank so that you’ll know what you need to do, if anything, to get a new bonus for that old card.
Should you sign up for the new Hilton 100K offers?
Now that Amex has exclusive rights to issue Hilton cards, they’ve rolled out new and updated cards with a total of three different 100,000 point bonuses and one 50,000 point bonus. That sounds impressive, but in this post I counseled patience.
But then I flip-flopped and said to hurry… For those who are about to run into Amex’s 5 credit card limit, it’s a good idea to act now if you have Citi Hilton cards that are about to put you over that limit. All of the details can be found here:
Waiting to activate converted Hilton card? Consider applying new now.
International Premium Economy for less than coach
Recently, I was able to book Delta’s new international Premium Select seats for significantly less than coach. Read the post for details of how it was done and how you may be able to fly in comfort and pay less than you would have paid for coach.
Delta upgrade certificate rules appear just in time
Delta’s new upgrade rules may sound like minor enhancements, but to me they significantly increase the value of my upgrade certificates and my companion certificates. Surprisingly, two of the new rules help me immediately.
Hyatt Award Nights Not Posting? Here’s What To Do.
Hyatt recently enhanced their program to allow award nights to count towards earning elite status. That’s great, but their technology hasn’t yet caught up with the change. Here, Stephen Pepper gives us a tip for how to fix the issue without lifting the phone.
Searching for California Casual Chic
What would you do if you were told to dress “California Casual Chic”? I think I’d make up an excuse for why I was too busy to join. Actually, that’s exactly what I did, but only because I really was too busy to join in on this Uber weekend adventure. In this post, J.M. Hoffman tells his hilarious “fish out of water” story… Enjoy!
