Hot on the heels of Virgin Atlantic making it much easier to find award availability on both their flights and those operated by Delta, Capital One is offering a 30% transfer bonus to the Virgin Red program.

The Deal

  • Get a 30% bonus when transferring Capital One miles to Virgin Red.

Key Terms

  • Expires March 30 31, 2023 at 11:59pm EST.

Quick Thoughts

Citi is already offering a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin, so it’s nice to see Capital One joining the bonus points party. That’s great timing because Virgin Atlantic launched a new feature yesterday allowing you to see award availability in all fare classes on every route that they operate in a month-long view format. With it being easier to identify routes and dates with award availability, those seats might get booked up more quickly than normal. If you were wanting to jump on that availability, a 30% transfer bonus can sweeten the deal if you have Capital One miles.

In case you’re confused by the name of the program that Capital One transfers too, Virgin Red is the (relatively) new overarching loyalty program for Virgin’s different brands. If you have an existing Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account, you’ll need to set up a Virgin Red account and link the two together. It’s simple to do and should only take a minute or two.

Note that this transfer bonus expires on March 30 rather than March 31, so don’t leave it to the last day of the month to (unsuccessfully) take advantage of this transfer bonus. Update 3/6/23: Capital One has now updated the expiry date to March 31, so it seems like March 30 was a typo on the launch date of this transfer bonus.

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth transferring to Virgin Red, be sure to check out this post for their sweet spots: Best uses for Virgin Points across Virgin Atlantic & Virgin Red (Sweet Spot Spotlight).
