Air France / KLM Flying Blue has released information on its promo awards for travel from March 1 to April 30, 2019, which will be bookable online starting tomorrow (January 1, 2019). This time around, business class between Chicago and Europe are included, with the official price listed at 43,500 miles one-way. Since Flying Blue award pricing is variable based on route, past experience has shown that flights to some markets may even come up less than that.

Quick Thoughts

Flying Blue’s promo awards don’t offer quite as much value as they did years ago, and variable award pricing makes the best deals more….well, variable. Still, you can fly either Air France from Chicago to Paris or KLM from Chicago to Amsterdam and then connect onward in Europe for fewer miles than normal, so it’s worth a look if you are contemplating a trip during the travel window.

Keep in mind that Air France / KLM Flying Blue is an Amex transfer partner, Chase transfer partner, Citi transfer partner, and now a Capital One transfer partner (2 Capital One miles to 1.5 Flying Blue miles). See Greg’s post about which points you should transfer to miles and how much it costs for guidance about which points to use to book these flights.

In past sales, flights to/from Prague and other Eastern European cities have priced lower than the “normal” prices, so you might be able to save some miles depending on where you’ll be traveling in Europe.
