Dosh: Earn $40 After Making 2x AT&T Payments With A Linked Card

3

Dosh has launched a new and somewhat targeted promotion offering up to $40 back after making two AT&T payments. It’s not entirely clear if this is available for existing customers, but if it is then it’ll be the easiest $40 you make over the next month or two.

Dosh AT&T

The Deal

  • Make an AT&T purchase using your Dosh-linked card and you’ll get $5 cash back on your first transaction and $35 on your second.
  • If you’re new to Dosh, feel free to sign up using one of our referral links. We’ll earn $10 when you sign up and connect and verify your first card, but I’m not entirely sure what you’ll receive as a signup bonus. It used to be $5, then they reduced it to $1, but I’m not sure if it’s gone back up now or not.

Key Terms

  • Terms listed in email from Dosh:
    • You must make two separate payments on AT&T wireless services to redeem $40 in total cash back. $35 cash back can only be redeemed on the second payment or 20 days after the first transaction.
    • Offer not valid on AT&T PREPAID or Cricket Wireless products or services.
    • Not everyone using the Dosh app will see all offers.
    • Cash back amounts may also vary for each user. Check your app for all offer restrictions and details.
  • Terms listed in Dosh app:
    • Valid on purchases of $40 or more.
    • $5 maximum cash back per day.
    • Must make two separate payments on AT&T wireless services to redeem $40 in total cashback. Redeem $35 in cashback 20 days after your first transaction/payment or on your second billing payment.
    • Offer not valid on AT&T PREPAID or Cricket Wireless products or services.
    • Cash back will be deposited into your Dosh account within 30 days.
    • Offers are redeemable as long as available in the Dosh app. Check the app before making a purchase.

Quick Thoughts

As suggested by the emailed terms, this appears to be a targeted offer. My wife and I both received emails about this, as did Greg. Apparently Dosh doesn’t like Nick though as he didn’t receive an email about it, nor does he have the offer showing in the app.

Dosh isn’t always the greatest about having clear terms and conditions and that’s no exception here. For starters, the terms listed in the email and those listed in the app are a little different, plus the app lists a limit of $5 cashback per day even though the second amount you earn is meant to be $35.

The biggest uncertainty is whether this is only available for new AT&T customers or if it’s available for existing customers too. If you currently have AT&T Wireless service, make sure your payment card is linked on your Dosh account and you’ll hopefully earn $5 on your next payment and $35 after your second payment. If not, you haven’t really lost anything other than about 10 seconds of your time linking the card if it wasn’t already linked in the app.

Based on the terms listed in the app, it appears that your payments have to be $40 or more. The terms in the app also refer to ‘Redeem $35 in cashback 20 days after your first transaction/payment or on your second billing payment’ which makes it sound like this offer is only meant to be for new customers. I don’t know how AT&T billing works though, so I’m unsure if your first couple of transactions are somehow coded differently which would help ensure Dosh only pays out for new customers rather than existing ones.

If you were already planning on becoming a new AT&T customer, be sure to click through from a shopping portal – here are the current rates. Capital One Shopping is offering $100 cashback and you don’t have to be a Capital One cardholder to use that service. Rakuten meanwhile is offering $75 cashback or 7,500 Membership Rewards; if your account is set up to earn Membership Rewards and you value them at greater than 1.33cpp, that option will be better than $100 cashback from Capital One Shopping.

Also keep an eye out on your credit cards for Amex Offers and Chase Offers that could stack with these. We sometimes see AT&T-specific offers from both Amex and Chase, while I think there’s also some kind of generic cellphone Amex Offer floating around that’s targeted.

How do you interpret this line? “Redeem $35 in cashback 20 days after your first transaction/payment or on your second billing payment.”

Do I have to wait 20 days to make the second payment or is it referring to something else?
