When one Visa gift card deal closes, another one opens. No sooner had the most recent Giftcards.com discount on $100 virtual Visa gift cards ended than they launched an identical sale with a new set of promo codes.

Giftcardsdotcom promo code GIFTVISA5 & HOLIDAY5

  • Excludes Giftcards.com for Business orders.

Quick Thoughts

These cards have a $5.95 purchase fee, so even with the $5 discount your net fee is $0.95. Ordinarily that could still be worthwhile for people as you could earn rewards through a shopping portal that outweighed that.

However, with the last deal Giftcards.com advised that they weren’t paying commissions via their affiliate program when people used the promo codes which meant you wouldn’t earn rewards through a portal. They haven’t issued the same advisory this time around (at least not at the time of publishing this post anyway) and so it might be that you can earn cashback, points or miles through a portal this time. However, I wouldn’t count on it and so I’d only do this deal if you’d be content with not earning those rewards. Keep an eye on your shopping portal(s) of choice though because if they list one or more of these promo codes, that should mean you’ll earn rewards.

FYI so far not tracking using discount code on Southwest’s portal.

Tom

why would this deal be worth doing to anyone to pay 100.95 net, to not earn portal earnings, and to only get a gift card for 100. basically you are paying 0.95 to get a visa virtual gift card, with less flexibility than a credit card. This deal seems a waste of time.

Tom

totally agree Stephen. I just checked the portals, and so far the ones I looked at weren’t paying. Good point.
