Citi is continuing its run of interesting travel-related Citi Merchant Offers with a targeted offer enabling you to save up to 10% on Hawaiian Airlines flights. This offer previously expired on July 31, but is now back through the end of September. For anyone with a Sam’s Club membership though, there might be an even better option.

Hawaiian Airlines Citi Offer 09.30.22

Quick Thoughts

If you’ll be booking paid flights with Hawaiian Airlines, this is an easy way to save $20. If you have the offer on more than one card, you can use the offer on each one provided each purchase you make is for $200 or more.

Ultimately, this offer is unlikely to save you 10% as it’s doubtful your flight(s) will cost exactly $200. As a result, anyone with a Sam’s Club membership might do better to buy Hawaiian Airlines gift cards because Sam’s Club sells their $500 cards for $449.98 which is a 10% discount. If the cost of your flight(s) is more expensive, those discounted gift cards could save you far more than the $20 from the Citi Merchant Offer. If you’re not spending $500+ though, it means you’d be left with some kind of a residual gift card balance which wouldn’t be worth it if you don’t anticipate flying with Hawaiian Airlines again anytime soon.

Paying with gift cards also means you could be forgoing travel protections that you’d receive when paying by credit card, but that all depends on what credit card(s) you have the Citi Merchant Offer on.

Don’t forget that you can earn shopping portal cashback when booking paid flights with some airlines. Hawaiian Airlines is one such airline that offers cashback via portals, so check the portal rates here before booking any paid flights with them.
