Kimpton is a small hotel brand, but one that is passionately loved by its loyalists. Since Kimpton is now completely folded into IHG, those with uncapped free night certificates remaining from the IHG Rewards Club classic card (no longer available for new applicants) or IHG Rewards points can find good value in some of Kimpton’s unique and upscale properties. To make your stay extra-special, you’ll want to know the secret password at check-in. Right now, that secret passcode is out of office.
The Deal
- Use the Kimpton secret phrase “Out of Office” at check-in at Kimpton properties to get a special surprise (can range from dining credits to wine or chocolate or other goodies) for stays through September 3, 2018
Quick Thoughts
This password has been on for a bit, but we hadn’t thought to post it here until Stephen used it the other night at a Kimpton property in Chicago. He reported on his experience with it in Frequent Miler Insiders:
Getting a $30 dining credit on a free night stay sounds not too shabby at all. Not sure what else was in the bowl, but I’d say that Truffles did AOK.

Is there an updated password for stays after September 3?
There is none right now. According to the Flyertalk thread on this promotion, there is often a break of weeks or months between them. Will update here if and when we hear of a new one.
Just used at Kimpton Seafire Grand Cayman. Very nice bottle of wine a large plate of fresh fruit and some macaroons. Perfect start to the trip.
Mike, how was the resort? I was thinking of maybe staying there on my vacation next January.
Resort was amazing. Already looking at going back next summer.
I will be staying at a Kimpton after this code expires. Is there a way to track them going forward?
Yup – bookmark the link in the last sentence of this post (the one for Current Hotel Promotions). When the next password comes out, we’ll add it to that table. It worked for me at Kimpton DeWitt Amsterdam, got $15 for the bar, and a free breakfast for 3.

Sounds better than what I got at the Sir Francis Drake, SF (August 6-8): Some type of beach promo, with a Kimpton beach ball (useless), cheap Kimpton sunglasses (worthless), and two small tubes of tanning lotion. Seems like we were there the same nights and got very different things!
I got an undrinkable bottle of wine – a bit more like an insult. The seond night was my wife’s reservation so I asked for the free gift – same bottle of wine (perhaps $3 value at CVS). This was downtown Portland.
I got a quite nice Pinot Grigio in DC last month
