Nordic Choice Hotels has returned with another all-you-can-stay offer at most of their properties this summer. While the lump-sum cost for entry is high, it could be worth it if two months in Scandinavia is on your radar as the per-night cost ends up being fairly low. They also have a separate deal that could save you money on a week-long stay.

Nordic Choice Hotels promotion

Quick Thoughts

The unlimited stays promotion is the most eye-catching of these two offers. At the current exchange rate, 3,000 EUR works out to be ~$3,200 which is about $55 per night if you maximize the offer by spending every night of the promotion period in a participating Nordic Choice Hotels property.

Accommodation and breakfast in Scandinavia during the summer can be very expensive, so spending only ~$55 per night is a fantastic deal. Even if you were to only spend a month staying in their properties, spending an average of ~$110 per night could still provide good value.

Note that there are several key terms to be aware of. I included the most pertinent ones in the Key Terms section above, but there are more terms than just the ones I listed, so be sure to check the offer page(s) before buying one of these passes. One of the most important things to be aware of is that you can’t book a stay at the same property from June 24 to August 21 as you’re limited to staying 5 nights at a time at any given property and a total of 15 nights at any given property over the course of the promotion period. There are seven excluded properties, you can only book one hotel room per night and Nordic Choice Hotels elite benefits aren’t received during your stay.

There are several other positive aspects to this promotion though. Not only is the per-night cost potentially very low, but you also have very good flexibility because your stays can be cancelled up until 4pm on your day of arrival. Despite not receiving status benefits during your stay, you will earn elite night credits and 1,000 bonus points per night on the stay (850 points per night for the 7 night package). Making a reservation is easy too as that can be done online rather than having to call them.

Nordic Choice Hotels has a partnership with Choice Privileges, although that partnership won’t be pertinent here because you can redeem Choice Privileges points for Nordic Choice stays, but you can’t earn Choice Privileges points on Nordic Choice stays. Having said that, it’s worth checking this post by Greg which includes some Nordic Choice sweet spots. Those sweet spots are based on Choice Privileges points redemptions which wouldn’t be applicable when using one of these all-you-can-stay passes, but it could give you some inspiration as to which properties you might want to stay at. Some of the properties listed in that post are excluded from the unlimited pass, so be aware of that.

Another sweet spot would be to stay at properties that are part of the Clarion Collection. That’s because both the unlimited stays package and the 7 night package include “Fika” and a daily evening meal. Fika is apparently tea, coffee and something sweet, so getting that, an evening meal and free breakfast means your dining spend will be greatly reduced. When looking for Clarion Collection Hotels, be aware that there appears to be two types of properties – Clarion and Clarion Collection. From what I can tell, it’s only Clarion Collection Hotels that offer the Fika and daily evening meal; you can scroll through all Clarion and Clarion Collection properties here.

sounds awesome! if I had a strong desire to go to these two countries again – I don’t. Timing doesn’t work either. Maybe a future summer?

BTW – Svalbard is best in late winter/early Spring – that’s when I went. Don’t think it would be that interesting / noteworthy in the summer. But if I had this pass, I’d probably still go up in the summer for several days since flights are relatively cheap if I recall.

Thank you for writing about this. I like that you can buy the unlimited pass and you have 14 days to decide if you want to keep it. That will give me time to book all my hotels nights. (I was afraid to buy the pass and then all the hotels say: sorry, we’re booked.)

Clarion Collection in the region offers the light evening meal along with breakfast and free “fika”. The other Clarion hotels in the region offer included breakfast but not a light evening meal.

I have stayed at a large proportion of Nordic Choice properties, and they are my preferred hotel group in the region. They treat me very well as a Nordic Choice Club Platinum member.

Any recommendations for Oslo?

c. $90/night for the 7-night pass? That’s more expensive than what it usually costs me for 7 nights at most of these properties.
