Staples has taken on the Visa gift card sale challenge this week, but Office Depot and OfficeMax stores have an offer which might make it worth stopping off at one of their stores this week. That’s because they’re offering 25% back in rewards when spending $100 on Happy gift cards.
The Deal
- Buy $100 of any Happy gift cards at Office Depot or OfficeMax & get 25% back in rewards.

- Offer valid August 30 to September 5, 2020.
- Limit $25 in rewards per member.
- Valid in-store only.
- Must meet $100 minimum spend in any combinations of Happy gift cards.
Quick Thoughts
Getting 25% back in rewards for $100 worth of Happy gift cards is a good deal if you can put the rewards to good use. What’s especially nice with this deal is that all Happy gift card brands are eligible for this promotion, as some Happy gift card deals at Office Depot and OfficeMax in the last couple of years have only been eligible on select Happy brands.
The downside is that because it’s a rewards deal rather than an instant discount, the limit of $25 back in rewards can be more easily enforced by Office Depot/OfficeMax as you have to provide your rewards number in order to earn the $25 in rewards. Still, it’s an easy $100 of 5x spend if any of the Happy brands work for you.

The problem with this deal is that you cannot apply the awards to a future gift card purchase. And everything else there is way overpriced. I priced the batteries that had a similar deal last week. 24 AA batteries cost $10 more there than they do at Walmart.
