I think Nick and Greg both made good points, at lot depends on how you plan to use the points. Personally I did the last transfer promo to Hilton. I had a lot of Amex points and was short points in order to get the 5th night free on a Hilton booking. Transferring AmEx points to hilton with a promo then using it to book a resort room gave my outside value. Also as they mention, a bit of it leans into the Free Travel, if you have the points sometimes its better to just use them
Go Greg, completely logical discussion. Nick argument about buying points as being its valu3 should also be ascribed to Aeroplan and Avianca. Greg’s argument is 100% on target. Now that doesnt mean it’s the redemption everyone should do, but it is a a quality user of Amex points in the right personal situations…
