There is a new Amex Offer out today on Amex business cards that should stack very nicely with the current Amazon Gift Card Rebate on Avis rentals (See: Amazon Gift Card rebate w/ Avis car rentals), giving you the opportunity to earn as much as ~30% back (sort of, though not quite – see more below) on Avis rentals – though like the Amazon offer, this is only valid on rentals in the US. We have added this one to our Current Amex Offers database.
The Deal
- New Amex Offer out on some business cards to earn 10% back at Avis
Key Terms
- Reservations must be made at Avis.com, through the US mobile app, the US phone reservation line for rentals at Avis locations in the US and US territories
- Expires 11/30/18
- See offer for full terms
Quick Thoughts
While the Avis/Amazon offer requires renting through Alexa to get 20% back, I imagine those rentals likely code as being booked through Avis since it is a direct partnership with Avis that is providing the discount (and you alternatively get 10% back from booking at avis.com), so I expect these should be stackable (though if anyone makes a rental and can provide a data point, that would be great).
Unlike the Amazon offer, which only awards 10-20% back on the rental price (and not any affiliated taxes and fees), I expect this offer would give you 10% back on the total cost. Since the Amazon offer is only applied to the time & mileage, you won’t get a full 30% back, but stacking would nonetheless provide a nice return.
It’s obviously still worth shopping around. I’m a big fan of using AutoSlash to track your rentals, though I imagine rebooking through Autoslash might cause problems with the Avis / Amazon promo.
Overall, this is an offer that doesn’t look amazing on the surface, but could certainly add up between now and November, especially if stacked with the Amazon offer. Just keep in mind that both are limited to US locations.
