Stack 3 promos to buy United miles for 1.36 or 1.44 cents each

16

Three concurrent promotions make it possible to buy United miles for 1.44 cents each (or as low as 1.36!). I posted earlier that it’s possible to stack two promotions to increase the transfer ratio of Wyndham points to United miles to 2:1. Now sprinkle in Wyndham’s sale on purchased points and… ta-da! You can buy United miles cheaper than ever.

CAUTION! The deal presented below is contingent upon Wyndham points transferring to United by October 31st at the latest. However, Wyndham’s site states, “Partner point redemptions will be deposited directly into your United MileagePlus Miles account within 6-8 weeks.” If the transfer really takes that long, it will arrive too late for the United 25% promo. The good news is that, in practice, most transfers this month have been happening in 2 to 4 days. If that doesn’t work out for you, it may be possible to contact Wyndham to expedite the transfer.

Here’s how the triple stack works:

  1. Via the sale described here, buy Wyndham points for 0.68 cents each if you’re targeted for the 90% point bonus. Otherwise, with an 80% bonus, the cost will be 0.72 cents each (still not bad!).
  2. Make sure to register for the 25% transfer bonus from hotel programs to United MileagePlus
  3. Transfer your Wyndham points to United while Wyndham is offering double United miles (through Nov 2).

Keep in mind a few caviats about the 25% bonus United promo:

  • When transferring points to United, Wyndham’s site states, “Partner point redemptions will be deposited directly into your United MileagePlus Miles account within 6-8 weeks.” If the transfer really takes that long, it will arrive too late for the United 25% promo.
  • Limited to 25,000 bonus miles (you will max this out if you transfer 250,000 Wyndham points to United)
  • Bonus miles will be credited into the member’s account on or before January 31, 2026.

And a caveat about the points purchase:

  • Wyndham has an annual 100,000-point purchase limit. The point sale, though, is done as a bonus (90% for some, 80% for others), and so it’s possible to buy up to 190,000 (or 180,000) points.

Example:

Suppose you only qualify for the 80% bonus and you want to buy 90,000 United miles:

  1. You buy 180,000 Wyndham points for $1,300 (here’s the link to purchase points — scroll down to the Purchase Points section)
  2. Make sure to register for the United 25% promo! The registration link can be found here.
  3. Transfer your Wyndham points into United miles by October 31st:
    1. 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points equals 12,000 United MileagePlus award miles
    2. Do this 6 times
    3. 180,000 Wyndham points become 72,000 United miles
  4. On or before January 31, 2026, you should be awarded 72,000 x .25 = 18,000 bonus miles.
  5. You should now have a total of 90,000 United miles purchased for $1,300 (1.44 cents per mile).

For those who qualify for the 90% Wyndham points purchase bonus, things get a little more complicated because Wyndham points transfer to United only in chunks of 6,000, 16,000, or 30,000 Wyndham points. As a result, you may not be able to convert all of your purchased Wyndham points into United miles.

Anyone got the 25% bonus miles from United?

Son Nguyen

Miles posted in United account. Transferred right after reading article

Dan

data point:

10/11 signed up for United 25% transfer bonus
10/11 bought 180,000 Wyndham points for $1300 – I qualified for the 80% bonus
10/12 180,000 Wyndham points showed up on my Wyndham account. I transferred 30,000 points six times to United. I actually did it 30K + 30K then realized there was a dropdown which let me do 4x30K in one transaction which I did for a total of 180K
10/14 This evening 72,000 United miles posted to my United account. So it took two days to transfer from Wyndham (although on my United account they were dated 10/12)

So now I wait to see if I get the 25%=18,000 UA miles by 1/31/26. For me this is (I hope worth it) for business class SFO-Australia which I have had decent luck with close in.

DP: For some strange reason I am able to buy at 0.68 but never been cardholder before (UK based). I did open my Wyndham account back in 2018 with a zero balance until last month (where I purchased pts for some HI properties) so that may have something to do with it.

This helps me value the United award flight I just purchased for my sister!

Hope this stack works! Coz Wyndham won’t transfer instant.. wyndham says it will take 6-8 weeks and… United 25% promo says you need to transfer by 10/31.

David

Wyndham points took 48 hours first time round to hit my account. 24 hours additional purchases.

Sarthak

Was talking about Wyndham to United transfer time. I already had the points in my Wyndham account

Sarthak

Greg, it took 6 days for the miles to hit United account. Will now wait for the 25% bonus that United promised which I know will be on or before Jan 31, 2026

dan

I don’t think you need to be a Wyndham card holder to buy Wyndham points for $.0068

David

This would explain my situation then (above)
