Update: Kathy from Will Run for Miles reports having gotten this offer on the AAdvantage Platinum Select card and reader jeph36 reports receiving it on a Citi Dividend card. Keep an eye out for emails on any of your Citi cards.
Citi has sent out a targeted spending offer for some Citi Rewards+ cardholders offering 10x for eligible online purchases through 4/30/20, up to 2500 points. I imagine that most readers will be spending $250 online between now and the end of the month, so it’s worth checking your email to see if you are targeted.

Quick Thoughts
Keep in mind that supermarkets are excluded, so I don’t think an online order for curbside delivery will work. That said, tons of other types of online purchases should work — Amazon, GrubHub / UberEATs, DoorDash, etc.
I imagine this would work for online gift card purchases at many retailers as well. If you were intent on using this offer at a grocery store and you have a store that does not directly process gift card orders, maybe you could order a grocery store gift card? For example, since Kroger gift card purchases aren’t actually processed by Kroger I think there’s a chance that they will code in a way that triggers this? I don’t know for sure and I imagine most readers can find a use other than at grocery stores, but it’s a thought if that’s the limit of your current online spending.
This won’t give you a huge windfall of points, but it’s an easy win. If you have other Citi cards, keep an eye on your email as they often send out different spending offers on various cards around the same time.
Anyone know if paying bills online qualify for 10% back?
Is this 10% additional to 5% quarterly category? My Citi dividend earns 5% on Amazon, will I earn total 15% back or 10% capped for Amazon purchases?
Also received this offer…sounds quite interesting!!

Do you know how Costco or Sam’s Club would post? My offer excludes grocery stores as well, but I’m not sure if Sam’s Club would post as a grocery store. Do you have any data points on that?
Doubtful that Sam’s would count as grocery. Warehouse clubs usually code as warehouse clubs. I’d bet you’re good to go on that.
Great, thank you!
[…] received this offer on my Citi Dividend card, but others are seeing it on cards earning American Airlines AAdvantage miles and Citi ThankYou points. The email I received […]
Got the offer on my AA exec platinum
I got this on my TY Preferred but keep getting an error when I try to enroll with the 1-click email link. Can’t find a way to enroll from my account either.
I think it does work on online grocery purchases. This is what they sent in an email to me:
Use your card to earn 10% back as a statement credit, up to $25, through 04/30/2020 on purchases¹ you make online.
Here are a few examples of some online purchases:
Eligible purchases made at your favorite retailer’s website
Online grocery orders
Restaurant delivery orders
Online drugstore orders (Including prescription orders made online)
But I already get 250x points on this card
Where are you able to make $0.04 transactions?
Gas stations. It’s waste of time to get 10 typ at a time. But if you value typ you can get 20x at amazon if you a) can figure out how to make a program to buy $.50 gift cards b) don’t get shutdown by amazon c) don’t get shutdown by Citi.
Not quite as good as when they had $.01 reloads where you could get 1000 typ/$1 but that changed before the rewards + card came out.
I received this on a Citi Preferred. The fine print says, “Earnings associated with this program will equal 9 bonus ThankYou® Point(s) per $1 spent on eligible purchases and may overlap with other special offers in which you are currently enrolled. Bonus points awarded with this offer are subject to a maximum of 2,500 additional points.” Would you read that as implying that a spend of $277.78 (2500/9) results in the maximum reward under this offer? It does seem to contradict the introductory paragraph, which states “10 ThankYou® Points per $1 spent, up to 2,500 points.”
I read it as $277.78 as well.
I am just reading this comment now because I just got this offer again. Last time I spend ~$260 and got it all at 10x. I figured it was some kind of a glitch, but your analysis makes the most sense.
Just got this on my Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select card!
I got the offer on my AAdvantage Platinum Select card. https://willrunformiles.boardingarea.com/10x-aa-miles-for-online-purchases-targeted/
Nice! Added this and the Dividend DP above to the post, thanks.
thanks Nick.
I got the same but on my Citi Dividend. Given I have an active 0% rate promo on that card thru August, that is a no brainer.
