Targeted Amex Business Platinum 200K offer after $20K spend (No lifetime language)

NOTICE: This post references card features that have changed, expired, or are not currently available

There is a targeted offer for the American Express Business Platinum Card®: Earn a welcome offer of 200,000 Membership Rewards points after $20,000 in purchases in the first 3 months.

While this isn’t the best offer out there, this version doesn’t include Amex’s lifetime language, meaning the offer should be available to those who have or have had the card. However, you’ll need to be targeted to apply, and we recommend double-checking the offer terms before submitting an application.

The Deal

  • A targeted welcome offer is available for 200,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $20,000 in purchases on the American Express Business Platinum Card® within the first 3 months of card membership.
    • This offer does not have Amex’s usual “once in a lifetime” language.

To see if you are targeted, check the link below. You will be prompted to log in to apply. If you log in and see a message indicating that the offer is no longer available, that means you were not targeted.

Quick Thoughts

It’s important to emphasize that this offer DOES NOT represent the best available. That would be the current public offer of “as high as” 300,000 points. However, there are two downsides to that version. Most importantly, it has lifetime language indicating that those who have or have had the card before may not be eligible for the new cardmember offer. Additionally, although it trumpets “as high as” 300,000 points, the amount actually offered varies by applicant.

If you’ve never had the Business Platinum card before, you should check the public offer first, as the lifetime language wouldn’t apply to you. Even if you have had the card, or currently have it, it’s worth checking that link. If you’re not eligible due to the lifetime restriction, or if you’re offered less than 200,000 points, the link above is worth taking a shot at.

Keep in mind that you’ll be on the hook for a steep annual fee in year one, but if you are able to make use of some of the card’s annual credits, the value of the welcome offer should far outweigh the cost of admission for at least the first year.

I just got the offer in the mail.
Is there any way I can take advantage of it in 2 player mode with my wife getting a referral bonus??

John

Still pop up prison for me and P2, even with no lifetime language. Guess prison lasts for years. We are going on year 3.

[…] Update 4/10/26: new 200k link to try. Hat tip to FM […]

Question for those that did the sign-up bonus offer that was: “250,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $20,000 in 3 months, plus $500 statement credit after spending $2,500 on flights in 3 months either directly with airlines or through Amex Travel.” Did anyone try to double dip this if I use the 35% point refund benefit? Meaning I purchase a $2,500+ flight but use MR (at a 35% point discount) to pay. Since it actually charges the cash value to the card and credits back later, can I receive the $500 credit via the SUB and also the credit back from pay with points? Let me know if this isn’t clear.

Not targeted fwiw

I received this offer twice over a 9mo period and was approved both times. Received the offer again a couple of months ago, will wait until my next estimated tax payment due.

I’m halfway thru a targeted offer for 250k miles with $20k spend + $500 credit with $2,500 in airline charges. Hit the airline credit in month one, working on the points bonus. I searched and didn’t see any lifetime language in mine when I applied for it. Is there somewhere I can double check after the fact? Thanks!

(Ps- really bummed about the 35% point back change. It was a big seller for me in planning to keep the card long term. I’ll have to see what value it brings otherwise)

Where did you find the targeted offer for 250K?

FrozenKiwi

It was targeted. So I had been getting emails and mailers for 250k miles on and off for a few years . The $500 additional airline bonus was new, so I decided to jump on it. My points posted, so I’m a happy camper… we’ll see what things look like after the fee increase soon…

Charisma

Can you please send the link to the 250k offer language?

Julie

I have found some great NLL offers on Danny the Deal Guru in the last six months, and am glad to see his site recognized recently on FM.

ECR12

Question for people who, like myself, get a lot of NLL offers…

Do you downgrade/cancel some/all of them after 12 months? I have 5 biz plat and 1 biz gold open (and numerous personal cards) and debating how many i can cancel (or downgrade) without ruining the NLL gravy train or risk popup prison.

greg

I just snagged this for 150k not long ago
