Quick Thoughts
Fee-free deals on Visa gift cards can be a great way of boosting spend on your credit cards, thereby earning points/miles/cashback if you have an easy/cheap liquidation method. These cards are issued by Sutton Bank, so that could have an effect on your liquidation options versus Visa gift cards issued by Pathward or other issuers.
TheGiftCardShop is run by Incomm which is a major player in the gift card world, so this is a legit site to buy gift cards from in case that was a concern.
Something important to be aware of is that in the past American Express had blocked earning rewards on purchases from TheGiftCardShop, similar to what they do with purchases from Simon Mall. I’m not sure if that’s still the case, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s still being enforced.

Is there a limit on this? Do you have to be registered with this site? I tried to purchase $4000 of GCs without registering and the transaction was denied.
Can these by used to pay Federal Taxes- as Debit card ?
I was able to buy e gift cards without fee, no problem. Then used them to make Nelnet student loan payments over the phone via “debit card”.
Feel free to correct me if I’m missing something, but it seems simpler, and less expensive, to go with Ink and Staples/ODOM offers.
A few reasons this might appeal to people:
* Couch spend
* Not everyone has a Staples or ODOM nearby
* Those that do don’t always have eligible Visa or Mastercard gift cards in stock
* Staples/ODOM deals are for $200 cards; this deal is valid on $500 denominations
* Not everyone has an Ink card (and might not be able to get one due to 5/24)
I’m certainly not saying people should choose this deal over earning 5x on Visa/Mastercard gift cards at office supply stores, just that there’ll be quite a few people where Staples/ODOM aren’t going to be an option for one reason or another.
Agree. I’m trying to use this to get $500 cards to meet a min spend requirement. I can liquidate for utility payment with a flat $1.75% fee +$5.95 purchase fee for a net cost of 0.273% if the fees are waived.

it’s a platform that my apartment (and many other apartments) use to accept rent payments. I pay $3.95 for debit card payments, which is not a bad deal if the VGC does not have any purchase fees

Even though the offer is advertised on their banner as well, the site is telling me that NEWLOOK is not a valid promo code. And even if it was, it’s not clear that it would remove the shipping fee too.
