United Mileage Plus Shopping and Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping are both offering a limited-time “mystery bonus” shopping portal promotion whereby you can earn extra miles when shopping through their portals over the next week. While this is advertised as a “mystery bonus” and may vary by individual after clicking through, I saw the same two offers (500 bonus miles after $100 in purchases during the promotional period) for both portals in several browsers.
The Deal
- Two popular airline shopping portals are offering limited-time “mystery” bonus payouts. I received the following two offers in the browsers I checked:
- United MileagePlus Shopping: Earn 500 bonus miles when you spend $100 online and in-store through April 16, 2023 (link to check your offer)
- Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Shopping: Earn 500 bonus miles when you spend $100 online and in-store through April 17, 2023 (link to check your offer)

Quick Thoughts
If you spend exactly $100 this week, one of these offers represents an extra 5 miles per dollar spent. That’s certainly a nice added bonus, though the 500-mile limit means the bonus is worth less than $10 (assuming that you value airline miles at less than 2c per mile). That’s not enough to move the needle for me on making a purchase, but if I were already buying something this week I would certainly consider these bonuses on top of the ordinary portal payout.
Keep in mind that there is a slight difference in the validity period: the United portal promo runs through 4/16/23 whereas the Alaska promo runs through 4/17/23.
