Quick Thoughts
Dollar General also ran this deal last year. The ad doesn’t state a limit and I know I did upwards of $800 or $1,000 per store without issue last year. I did run into a velocity limit somewhere (cards stopped activating), but I can’t recall exactly how much or how many cards it was. Of course some stores will insist on cash only for gift cards, especially in larger cities (YMMV).
I heard through the grapevine that if a particular Dollar General store is closed today that they would honor the sale tomorrow (11/25), but I don’t know whether that’s true (and every Dollar General that I’ve visited on Thanksgiving Day the past couple of years has been open, so YMMV for sure).
I don’t think you’re going to trigger any category bonuses at Dollar General, but this could be a good way to work towards a minimum spending requirement. Otherwise, use your best “everywhere else” card.
Niche, but M1 card @10%. Literally only good use of that card from what I can tell.
Specifically for the Lowes GC when you click on it it states: 15% OFF*
Nov 20th – Nov 26th 2022
Several other items also have more than 1 day validity. There is also a note that the flyer takes precedence over the popup so inconclusive a bit. Although DG is close I am not going there this evening, but will be driving by tomorrow the 25th and will try if it is still on, because for Lowes 15% off is probably the upper limit what is typically possible.
It’s in the “Thanksgiving Day One Day Only Sale” section of the flyer. Last year it was Thanksgiving Day only. If you do get a store honoring it tomorrow though, let me know!
Yes, you are correct, the cash register did not pull any discount automatically. Since I do not need Lowes GC anytime soon I did not ask the cashier to honor the discount, but likely she would. So it is over, it was valid only the 24th NOV
