Staples.com is offering a $100 Whole Foods eGift Card for $90. That’s a pretty good deal on its own, but it should also stack with either the Chase Offer for 10% back on up to $200 or the Amex Offer for 2,000 Membership Rewards points on $100 or more.
The Deal
- $90 for a $100 Whole Foods eGift Card
- Direct link to gift card
Key Terms
- Limit 3 per customer
- Expires 12/2/17, but will likely sell out sooner
Quick Thoughts
This is a nice deal — a discount at Whole Foods is always great for those who shop there, but it gets even better when stacked. There is currently a Chase Offer for those with the Chase Marriott or Slate cards (See: Chase’s foray into offers for more details) for 10% back (up to $20 back).
If you were to buy two $100 Whole Foods cards, your net cost would be $162 for $200 in credit. Saving $38 at the grocery store is a nice win. I used a Chase Marriott offer and received an instant email confirming that I had used the offer:
Alternatively, there is a targeted Amex Offer our for 2,000 Membership Rewards points on $100 or more at Staples.
Triggering that offer will require some sort of filler. You could of course fill up that $10 with regular supplies you need — napkins, paper towers, staples, paperclips, etc. Alternatively, Staples sells $15 Google Play or Applebee’s gift cards.
While not quite perfect, those would bring your total to $105, triggering the Amex Offer. According to our Reasonable Redemption Values, 2K Amex Membership Rewards points are worth ~$36.40 (but could certainly be worth more), so I’d sleep fine with overspending by $5 to trigger that one (especially on something I know I’ll eventually use like the Google Play code).
No offers? Earn 5x
If you don’t have either the Chase Offer or the Amex Offer, use a card that earns 5x / 5% at office supply stores like the Chase Ink Cash (or Ink Plus if you still have it). See our Best Category Bonuses page for other ideas.
Bottom line
This one probably won’t last. There is a limit of 3 per account, so keep that in mind when ordering. Also keep in mind the fact that portal terms for Staples generally exclude gift card purchases, but it’s always worth clicking through one just in case (see our Laboratory for results). Finally, remember that third-party eGift cards purchased through Staples normally take at least a day to arrive — at times, it has taken several days for mine to arrive.
H/T: Slickdeals
just went out of stock
How does one go out of “stock” on a digital item? What a worthless promo.
It’s worth checking back every couple of hours or so. In the past these have sometimes reappeared as in stock for a while.
