Hilton already has a number of stacking opportunities, and now there is a new Amex Offer out for $45 back after $250 spend at Hilton Hotels & Resorts or Curio Collection. Interestingly, the terms of the offer state that using it will unlock another offer good for DoubleTree. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen an Amex Offer that unlocks another Amex Offer (See: Bloomingdale’s Amex Offer might get even better than advertised), but it’s great to see this trend expand into a Hilton hotel offer. Furthermore, this offer should stack with 6% found money from Acorns and the current offer for $200 back on $1,000 at Hilton brands in Hawaii and the $250 resort credit from the Amex Hilton Aspire if you book a Hilton resort in Hawaii. You could even book through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and stack FHR benefits like a $100 food and beverage credit and daily breakfast for 2 — making for a pretty terrific deal if you’re planning a trip to Hawaii in the near future. Some people have been targeted for a daily $75 resort credit which could also stack (perhaps in place of FHR if that requires booking through a dedicated link).

The Deal

  • New offer for $45 back on $250+ at Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Curio Collection by Hilton in the US and US territories.

Key Terms

  • Only valid at properties in the US and US territories
  • Only valid at Hilton Hotels & Resorts or Curio Collection (not at other Hilton brands)
  • Expires 4/30/18
  • Use this offer and unlock a different offer for DoubleTree

Stacking it

This new offer includes Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Curio Collection. I found this offer on my Amex Hilton Aspire card, where I also found the recent offer for $200 back on $1,000+ at Hilton brands in Hawaii (See: Hilton post).

Hilton Hawaii Amex Offer

As there are some Hilton resorts in Hawaii, I expect these two offers should stack if you book a Hilton hotel or resort in Hawaii. Further, if you book a Hilton Resort, it should also stack with the $250 resort credit that comes with the Amex Hilton Aspire card. If you therefore made a $1,000 booking and went through Acorns for 6% back in found money as Stephen showed in the post on the Hawaii offer, the total discount would be fantastic:

$1,000 room rate total
–  $200 (Amex Offer for Hilton brands in Hawaii)
–    $45 (Amex Hilton Resorts & Curio Collection offer)
– $250 (Amex Hilton Aspire annual resort credit)
–  ~$60 (6% cash back through Acorns — note that this only applies to room rate, not resort fee or taxes)
$445 net cost

That’s more than 55% off. And it might even stack with a targeted offer that some people have received for a daily $75 resort credit (See: this Doctor of Credit post for more on that).

Alternatively, you could book a Hilton resort through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and stack FHR benefits. The terms of these Amex Offers state that you must book directly through Hilton. There is always the chance that this could be enforced, but in my past experience, FHR bookings have always triggered hotel chain offers (whereas a booking through an OTA like Priceline or Expedia would not trigger an Amex Offer for the hotel chain). A brief glance showed a daily rate of $260 for the Hilton Hawaiin Village Waikiki Beach.

Booking through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts would come with the following benefits:

  • $100 food and beverage credit
  • Daily breakfast for 2 people
  • Guaranteed 4pm late checkout
  • Room upgrade based on availability
  • Noon check-in based on availability

Of course, booking through Amex FHR would come in lieu of the ~$60 cash back from the Acorns portal. Still, I think I’d take those benefits over the $60 cash back if the price was equal.

Bottom line

As you can see, this new $45 back on $250 offer could stack nicely for a huge discount — and that’s not even considering the value of the DoubleTree offer that you will unlock by using this offer (as we don’t yet know what that will be). If I had the $75 daily resort credit offer, it might even prompt me to look at an unplanned trip to Hawaii. You should additionally register for the Hilton Q1 promotion for 2K bonus points with each stay — while not a huge additional return, you should earn a ton of points if you’re stacking all of these offers (as you should still earn Hilton points on the full room rate of somewhere around $1K). I’m thrilled to see more Hilton offers and glad that they are appearing on my new Aspire card. Now I just need to get it linked to my login with a Platinum card….
