American Express is offering two additional Membership Rewards points per dollar spent when you check out with an eligible American Express card via Amex Express Checkout at select merhcants through 5/17/18. You can earn up to a maximum of 5,000 additional points, which could be a great deal if stacked with Amex Offers and portal rewards.

Quick Thoughts
This is a nice deal as it’s super easy and should stack with portal rewards, Amex Offers, and any store rewards you might earn and/or category bonuses on your credit card.
In our Current Amex Offers database, we can see Amex Offers for a couple of merchants:
- Boxed.com: Spend $75 get either $20 back or 2,000 Membership Rewards points depending on your offer; earn 1 additional Membership Rewards point per dollar
- Neiman Marcus: Get 1 additional Membership Rewards point per dollar
We have also seen offers in recent months for GrubHub, Seamless, Staples, and 1800Flowers. It’s worth keeping an eye out to see if any offers return.
There is currently a better deal possible for new Boxed.com customers through Apple Pay (See: Good stacking opportunity w/ new Apple Pay promo). But if you’ve got some more Boxed.com shopping to do, it would make sense to take advantage of this offer.
Furthermore, this deal should stack with any category / spending bonuses, though keep in mind that you’ll have to use a card that earns Membership Rewards points. Note that the Amex Everyday and Everyday Preferred cards, which earn a bonus based on reaching a specific number of transactions per billing cycle, will not earn that bonus on these two points. However, these points will stack on top of your regular earnings. For example, the Amex Everyday Preferred earns 1x Membership Rewards points on most purchases. If you do 30 or more transactions in a billing cycle, you earn a 50% bonus for an effective earn rate of 1.5x. If you do 30 or more transactions and also take advantage of this Amex Express Checkout promotion, you could earn a total of 3.5x.
The deal gets a little better yet with a card like the Blue Business Plus, which earns 2x on the first $50K in purchases each year (then 1x). You could earn a total of 4x between that rate and the 2 additional points through this promotion.
Amex Express Checkout works like other third party wallets, though it’s a bit easier: you simply click the icon for Amex Express Checkout during the checkout process and log in to your Amex online account. Amex then autofills your card and billing information – you don’t need to manually add cards to your Amex Express Checkout wallet.
Remember that this offer expires 5/17/18 and earning additional points will rely on the merchant charging your card by that date. Some merchants don’t charge your card until your order ships, so I would suggest placing any orders under this promotion at least a day or two before the cutoff.

I did mean this post. The offer is really an additional 2x MR at a very limited selection of merchants. Just saying “up to 5k bonus MR” says nothing about the fact that you have to spend $2,500 to reach the 5k bonus or that this offer is limited in any particular way.
The first sentence of this post is a good summary and is also a good indication that the author knows what the most important details of this deal are. A shortened version of the first sentence would have been a more appropriate title. This style (first sentence summarizes, title is shorter version) is actually what has been done on your other 4-5 most recent deal posts. I think that is a more straightforward way to communicate.
