The Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card from American Express FM Mini Review: Thanks to the 50% bonus on points earned, this is, in my opinion, one of the strongest mile-earning cards available. Card Type: Amex Credit Card Earning rate: ⚬ 3x points at US supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1x) ⚬ 2x points at US gas stations ⚬ 1x points on other purchases. Noteworthy perks: Earn 50% more points: Use your Card 30 or more times on purchases in a billing period and get 50% more points on those purchases less returns and credits. Terms apply. See Rates & Fees OverviewThe Amex EveryDay Preferred Credit Card from American Express may be the single best card for earning transferable points (points that transfer to airline miles). The card earns 3x points at US supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1x); 2x points at US gas stations; and 1x points on all other eligible purchases. What really makes this card special, though, is that when you use the card 30 or more times in a billing period, you get 50% more points. In other words, in every billing period in which you use the card 30 or more times, you earn the following points per dollar:
As I showed in the post "Best credit card combos: Membership Rewards," an average person (see assumptions in the post) can earn, on average, 2.33 points per dollar! Membership Rewards points earned with this card are transferable to many airline programs and can be pooled with points earned on other Membership Rewards cards such as Platinum, Gold, and Green cards. One particularly good use is to pool points with the Business Platinum Card so that you can use points to buy airfare at a value of approximately 1.5 cents per point.
