There’s an Amex offer out this morning to save $60 on your next purchase of $300 or more at Marriott properties. It’s always great to see this type of offer come around as it can be a great way to save on your next stay. If you have found this offer on your shiny new SPG Lux card, all the better as you may be able to can double dip it with the $300 annual hotel credit that comes with that card and actually get $360 back on a $300 stay. We’ll need to collect some data points to know for sure whether or not that will work. Update by Greg the Frequent Miler: I’ve successfully stacked this offer with the Lux card’s $300 credit. So, together, spend $300, get $360 back!

Quick Thoughts
As noted at the top, this is a good way to save a nice chunk of change on a stay. Despite the fact that the terms exclude gift card purchases, previous offers have sometimes triggered when purchasing Marriott gift cards at the front desk. If you have recent experience testing this, please let us know in the comments. Note that Marriott gift card purchases from a gift shop would not work; you would need to be paying at the front desk. Not all hotel locations sell gift cards at the front desk, and I have found that even those that do sometimes have no cards in stock or the agents are confused by the process. YMMV.
Remember that the SPG Lux card offers a $300 annual statement credit for purchases made at SPG and Marriott properties. If you have found this new offer on that card and you use it at a Marriott property, I would expect you would receive $360 back in total. While I had previously said I would likely cancel all of my SPG and Marriott cards, this offer might convince me to instead upgrade to the Luxury card as I have a good upgrade offer right now in my account and this offer stacked with the credit might be enough to sway me. On the other hand, it is possible that these will not stack. Stephen Pepper pointed out to me that it is at least possible that the $300 Lux credit will wipe out the charge before it triggers the Amex Offer. We’ll see as people test it (please report back with any results).
As always, we have added this offer to our database of Current Amex Offers.
The offer worked for me when I bought a GC at the front desk of a Marriott a few days ago. Posted in about a day.
I was able to trigger this offer plus the Lux refund at a Renaissance for a gift card.

Hey Nick – 2 important questions
1. AMEX is reportedly clawing back on offers when they are on multiple cards. Would that be a possible risk here?
2. Does this have to be used in single transactions or can multiple small stays?
I had 3 separate stays that added up to $300 and it triggered the $60 when the final stay posted.
I assume prepaid rates work. They don’t for the Hilton offer (at least according to your post), but I never know how to tell.
does it apply to marriott properties outside the united states?
No

I have two AMEXs with this offer. Is there a way to make two reservations (2 nights each for a total of 4 nights) to get $60 off on each reservation. I assume you have to call the hotel/Marriott to converge the reservations into one. Is this frowned on. Any help with the best process to do would be GREAT!
Why not just make 1 reservation and then split the payment between 2 cards at checkout?
The room is at a prepay rate.
Sure, there shouldn’t be any problem with that. As you said, just contact the hotel after making the reservations to ask them to link them together so that you won’t have to change rooms.
US only… sigh.
Not feeling the love from Amex. No Hilton or Marriott offers on any of my MR (2), SPG (2), or Hilton(2) cards
Multi tab trick worked and was able to add on multiple cards. Got a Hilton 50 off 250 offer that could not be loaded on multiple cards. Looks like they are able to control that feature.
Same as here. Marriott offer ($300-$60) could be added to multiple Amex cards (except Hilton card) by using multiple browser trick. But the Embassy suite offer ($250-50) was only be added to one Amex card.
Is SPG Lux $300 credit based on calendar year or membership year? Just upgraded but haven’t received the card yet.
membership year
Thank you, Greg! That’s what I figured.
So if my old SPG’s membership year ends, say, October 2018, I could get $300 now and then another $300 in, say, November.
I had the offer on my Lux card. I’ll have to switch one of my other SPG W or LuxColl stays to an Autograph or Marriott stay to qualify. But a nice deal.
