Chase Hyatt Business Card welcome offer: 60K points + Explorist status

2

There’s an “increased” welcome offer out for the Chase World of Hyatt Business card: you’ll get 60k Hyatt points and a few months of World of Hyatt Explorist status after spending $7k within the first 3 months.

I put “increased” in parentheses because Explorist status is, frankly, not much to write home about. I probably would prefer the previous offer, which gave the same amount of points, but for $2K less spend. However, this is still something that may appeal to folks shooting for World of Hyatt Globalist status, as you’ll have some level of elite status while you’re trying to get there.

This card won’t offer the most points per dollar, but it can be a good fit for big spenders who want a (slightly) easier path to status. If you’re just looking for Hyatt points, don’t forget about the better offers on the Chase Ink Business Preferred, Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Ink Cash cards, as Hyatt is a 1-1 transfer partner with Chase Ultimate Rewards.

Quick Thoughts

First off, the points portion of the welcome offer is the same as before: 60,000. What this version adds is an upgrade to World of Hyatt Explorist elite status after completing the minimum $7k in spend within the first 3 months.

Benefits of Explorist status include:

  • 2 PM Late Checkout (not guaranteed at resorts)
  • Room upgrade (Explorists don’t qualify for free upgrades to suites, but it is possible to score a nicer room if you’re lucky)
  • 20% points bonus on cash stays

That’s pretty much it. Club Upgrades are now Milestone Rewards, not something that’s offered as part of Explorist status, so effectively you earn 1 point per dollar more on cash stays, get a 2pm checkout and can get upgrades to a “preferred” room, such as a higher floor or a corner room. That’s it…and you only get the promo status until the end of February of 2026.

One of my gripes about World of Hyatt is that, while Globalist might be the best top-tier hotel status around, the middle tiers on the way to Globalist stink. The manner in which Milestone Rewards are now divvied up makes it a little better, as you’ll at least get perks like Club Awards, Guest of Honor awards and Suite Night Awards before actually reaching the 60 nights required for Globalist. However, the day-to-day benefits are sparse.

Explorist isn’t great, but it’s still more valuable than bottom-tier Discoverist (which you get automatically with both the World of Hyatt personal and business cards), and it normally isn’t awarded until 30 nights. So, if you’re going to try and hit Globalist this year, you’ll at least have an additional 30 nights of potentially nicer rooms. That’s better than nothing.

The key benefits of the business card are:

  • An “adaptive” 2x that rewards you for your top three spend categories each calendar quarter.
  • 5 elite night credits with each $10K spend
  • 10% back on redeemed points after spending $50K in a calendar year (Up to 20K points back per year). Note that the rebate kicks in on stays completed after reaching $50K in purchases.
  • Up to $100 in Hyatt credits: Spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property in the world and get a $50 statement credit up to twice per cardmember year.
  • Discoverist status for the cardholder and the ability to gift that status to 5 employees (those employees do not have to be employee cardholders)
  • Unlike the consumer card, this does not come with an annual free night certificate or annual elite night credits.

After the first year, it’s worth considering whether it makes sense to hang onto the card. I continue to keep it since I can easily use the twice-yearly $50 credits and I value the ability to earn 5 elite nights per $10k in spend. For many, though, the math won’t work out.

Chase's 5/24 Rule: With most Chase credit cards, Chase will not approve your application if you have opened 5 or more cards with any bank in the past 24 months.

The previous offer that gave 60k for $5k spend + a Free Night for $15k was much better, especially for those of us chasing Globalist, since we’ll anyway do $15k+ spend.

I’m explorist and I haven’t seen a single benefit over Discoverist. The potentially nicer rooms is definitely “potentially”. Lol. I have a 16 day trip to Bali and Vietnam… hopefully i see the upgraded rooms on thatbtrip!
