Hilton Amex Offers: Bonus 3x points on gas and grocery

There are at least two new offers on Amex Hilton cards that give bonus points for spending at gas stations or grocery stores. Unlike most Amex Offers that only reward spending at Hilton properties, these are for gas or grocery spending on a Hilton Amex.

I’m 0/2 on my Hilton cards, but have the grocery version on my wife’s Surpass and no-annual-fee Hilton cards: earn 3x bonus points, up to 5,000 bonus points, at US supermarkets. I’m told that the same offer exists for gas stations as well, but I don’t have that on any of our cards.

The Deal

• Earn 3 additional Hilton Honors Bonus Points for each dollar spent on qualifying purchases made using your enrolled eligible Card in-store or online at a U.S. supermarket.
  • Expires 12/31/25.
  • Limit of 5,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points.

• Enrollment is limited.
• Eligible Card Members must first add offer to Card and then use same Card for qualifying spend.
• Only US-issued Hilton Honors American Express® Cards are eligible.
• Limit of 5,000 additional Hilton Honors Bonus Points per Card Member.
• Offer valid for in-store and online eligible purchases at U.S. Supermarkets. A
• An “eligible purchase” means a purchase made with your enrolled Card at a U.S. supermarket location by 12/31/2025.
• “Supermarket” means a standalone merchant in the U.S. primarily selling supermarket products.
• Excludes gasoline purchases and gift card purchases.
• Specialty Food Stores, Superstores, Convenience Stores, Small Corner Grocery Stores, and Warehouse Clubs are not considered Supermarket stores.
• Excludes pharmacy and indoor vendor purchases such as coffee shops and restaurants.
• Offer valid only on purchases made in US dollars.

Quick Thoughts

It’s been some time since I’ve seen a gas or grocery bonus on a Hilton card. On this one, hitting exactly $1,666.67 in eligible spending maxes out the additional 3x earning. We value Hilton Honors points at ~.4 cents each, so the additional 3x adds up to a whopping 1.2% of additional return.

That certainly doesn’t sound like much, but my wife was targeted on a Hilton Surpass card, which already earns 6x on grocery and gas. She’s plugging away on the yearly $15,000 in spend for a free night certificate (FNC) on that card, so adding this bonus means that she’s now getting 9x on both and will end up with an additional 5,000 points added to her total. Now we’re cooking with gas…and grocery.
