There is a new increased offer available on the Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard. This card still isn’t worth it in my opinion given that there are many cards available with more generous bonuses, but on the other hand the spending bar is relatively low and the value is certainly much better with a $150 statement credit than without.

Quick Thoughts
Stephen brought to my attention earlier today that he saw a targeted offer for the Air France credit card when logged into his Bank of America account that showed the standard 25,000 bonus miles after spending $1,000 within the first 90 days and also featured a $100 statement credit. I didn’t see that offer, so I went to the Air France website to window shop first class flights and during the checkout process I found an offer good for the same 25K miles after $1K in purchases in the first 90 days but with a $150 statement credit.
I have added that offer as shown above to our Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard page (simply click the name of the card under “The Offer” above to go to our card page for that card, where you can find complete details and a link to apply).
Again, I don’t find this offer compelling given that Air France is an Amex transfer partner, Capital One transfer partner (albeit at the rate of 1,000:750), Chase transfer partner, Citi transfer partner, and Marriott Bonvoy transfer partner, so there are a plethora of cards that offer more generous welcome bonuses if you’re after Air France miles. However, given the very low spending requirement perhaps some will find this card worth triggering an easy bonus.

One nice thing about having the card is that you can avoid having AF points expire on you. AF is a decent transfer option for Amex when you’re not 100 percent sure of your plans because the redeposit fee is pretty cheap. The problem is that the points expire quickly. We use my wife’s AF account for transfers and booking sky team and Virgin awards and sometimes we get miles stuck. She doesn’t fly much and we’re not in a delta hub so it is hard to keep AF miles from expiring. We’re giving serious thought to getting this card, though for anyone who still has 5/24 slots getting the card just for 25k miles and a statement credit probably doesn’t make sense just to keep miles from expiring.
Does the simple act of earning AF miles thru spend with this card prevent your AF miles from expiring, whether or not they they were earned with this card, then?
That’s correct. You just need to make a purchase on the credit card every 2 years to keep your miles from expiring (that applies to your entire mileage balance).
