Quick Thoughts
I think these deals are usually good on variable load Visa gift cards rather than only on fixed-value $100 cards. If that’s the case with this one, it means you can rack up almost $500 of spend while making a $4.05 profit.
Needless to say, it’s worth putting this spend on a card that earns more at grocery stores, unless you’re working on the minimum spend requirement for a new (non-Amex) credit card. Many Chase and Amex cards are temporarily offering bonus points for grocery spend, so check out this post for a list of those. Many of the Chase cards have a $1,500 limit per month for May and June, so it might be worth focusing on one of those cards if you’ve not hit the $1,500 limit for May yet.

off topic…on the chase ihg new & old cc, the standard bonus @ grocery is 2x; do folks get addl 3x pts for a total 5x for may & june? or only cap @ 3x total? Thx
I believe it’s 3x total, so effectively only 1x extra. At 5x I’d have been interested, but at 3x I’m not bothering.

I’m not sure – I think $4.95 or $5.95. Considering the rewards you can get when spending the extra $400, the variable load card will make more sense for most.
