The current welcome offer for the American Express Business Platinum card has increased, and is now offering the same 150,000 points with the added sweetener of a $500 statement credit after purchasing $2,500+ of flights directly through airlines or via AmexTravel.com within the first three months.
This offer also has a hefty required minimum spend – $20K within the first three months. That’s going to be a big ask for a lot of folks.
It’s worth noting that there are many better offers for the Business Platinum that some folks can access, either by using methods to try and get targeted while browsing or via their online Amex accounts.

Quick Thoughts
First off, let me reemphasize that we’re seeing lots of people targeted for Business Platinum offers that are better than what’s listed above. I’ve had a 175K offer with no lifetime language sitting in my account for months and I’ve seen people receive mailers for a 250K + $500 statement credit offer (some are even seeing it in their online accounts).
All that said, if you can’t find any of those offers targeted at you, this 150K + $500 version is pretty good. Even with that increased spend, we still tabulate the first year value of the card at ~$1950, so it clocks in at #2 on our list of best business card offers (and the #1 slot is the Capital One Venture X Business, which requires $200K to trigger the full bonus).
It looks like all Business Platinum referral links are now showing the 150K offer, so if you can do a household referral, that will add another 15-35K to the total haul, making it vastly preferable to applying via a public link (like ours).
In terms of the flight credit, whether or not that’s valuable to you will vary tremendously from person to person. If you’re planning on spending $2,500+ on airfare in the next three months (or if you want to buy $2,500 in airline credits at 20% off), this could be a great add-on. If not, it’s effectively worthless to you.

This is a very interesting offer to have come out right after the Dell credit changed to $1,000 back after $5,000 spend. To me, this shows Amex moving their coupon model to the next level – that is to say – you only get the coupon after you spend 5x that amount on the card.
I would imagine they are doing this to try to imprint a pattern or a habit to use this card for these things. Say you spend $2,500 on flights at the beginning, now you may be more likely to automatically charge your next flights on the Biz plat. Also – it helps increase, just slightly, swipe fees.
Are we going to see more of these on other Biz or personal cards? What about the Biz gold moving to a $20 credit when you spend $100 at an office store? Or the airline fee rules being relaxed, but to make up for it you need to put 5x the spend on the card with that chosen airline?
I have an increased offer 2 of my Biz Plats. SUB: 200K after 20K in 3 months, $500 credit after flights.
