A couple of new Amex Offers came out this week for buying American Express Gift Cards: one offer is good for $10 back when you spend $200 or more and another is good for $50 back when you spend $1,000 or more. Combined with a promo code, these offers may be worth it for those who have a means of using the cards easily. Maybe.

Quick Thoughts

I never get terribly excited about Amex Gift Card offers because options for easily liquidating them have mostly dried up in recent years. That said, if you have a way to make use of these, you may come out a bit ahead of the game.

Doctor of Credit notes that he thinks these cards count toward spending requirements but don’t earn rewards. I am pretty sure they do not earn rewards — I do not know whether they count toward meeting spending requirements for either welcome bonuses or things like Delta status boosts. If any readers take advantage of the offer to pick up spend toward regular card spending bonuses, please let us know if the spend ends up counting.

I found both offers on cards in my household, but I probably won’t be using either one since I don’t have a good use in mind for the cards yet.
