Doctor of Credit is reporting that the Amex Green Card will feature a $189 reimbursement for CLEAR. That’s an increase from the current $100 reimbursement and makes the benefit match the CLEAR benefit offered on other cards.
The Deal
- Amex will be increasing the CLEAR reimbursement from the Green card (consumer version) to $189 on 11/15/22
Quick Thoughts
The full price of a single CLEAR membership is $189 at the time of writing, so this reimbursement would cover a membership for an individual.
That said, you can currently get a discounted rate of $109 or $119 through some airline programs (including Delta and United) — and with a $60 fee for a second CLEAR membership, the new reimbursement here could cover CLEAR membership for two people.
Keep in mind that we periodically see opportunities to get some type of bonus for signing up for CLEAR, including a couple of past deals for United MileagePlus miles or United TravelBank credits or Uber credits. If you’re not in a hurry for CLEAR membership now, it might be worth waiting for another incentive to pop up.

FYI-Resy offer linked in the “FM mini-review” for Green card did not work for me.
Great download path for those of us with multiple Plats – Gold is an option with frequent $5 off $15 Grubhub offers that can make the gold free or better – if you have good pickup options for GH/UB.
Keeping a Green/Gold if you PC from Platinum – opens door to upgrade bonuses.
We plan on doing less travel in 2023/24 so the Platinum is less valuable than it has been. Loss of consecutive FH&R stay, CL no free guests, etc. It has lost it Platinum shine
