With Mother’s Day coming up, many of us are looking at ways to boost our mileage balances while simultaneously getting our moms something special. The 1-800 Flowers offers (such as this one and this one) are one option, but FTD has the potential to offer an even greater return.
The Deal
- Earn 2X SkyMiles on eligible transactions with new participating partners from March 20, 2018 to May 31, 2018.

Key Terms
- Registered SkyMiles members will earn a 100% bonus on eligible transactions with any new participating partner they earn miles with between March 20, 2018 and May 31, 2018. The term “New” refers to a partner the member has not earned miles with during the period January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017.

Seeing as Mother’s Day is coming up, it seemed worth highlighting again one of the best potential deals. The SkyMiles Shopping portal ordinarily offers 30x SkyMiles for purchases from FTD. This promotion doubles that rate, so you’d actually earn 60x SkyMiles with FTD.
There are two very important terms to be aware of though. First, you have to register for the promotion (a link is above).
Secondly, if you earned miles through the SkyMiles shopping portal at all in 2017, you won’t earn double points. If you did earn points through the portal but your partner didn’t, that’d be one way to still have access to the 60x rate.
Be aware that there’s a separate Delta / FTD partnership that only offers 20 SkyMiles per dollar, so you need to go through SkyMiles Shopping in order to earn 60 SkyMiles per dollar.

Just ordered a floor plant for $99 (fortunately can classify this as an office expense). Unfortunately, (unlike with 1-800-Flowers) the ridiculously excessive “service fees” cannot be avoided on FTD if gaining Skymiles since the $30 annual FTD Gold Membership to avoid those fees is considered a discount, and double dipping offers/discounts is not allowed. Upon transaction completion the screen says 6-8 weeks for miles to post, so no way to know if this will gain the 60 miles/$ until after the program ends.
“Since miles earned at FTD are not rewarded via SkyMiles Shopping, associated purchases will not qualify towards SkyMiles Shopping bonuses.”
Those terms relate to the occasional shopping bonuses offered through SkyMiles Shopping (e.g. Spend $500, earn 1,500 SkyMiles).
FTD is one of the partners specifically listed for the double points promotion, so you should still earn 60x miles.
