Hilton has opened registration for its next promo which starts on May 3 and runs for just over four months. It has the potential to be very rewarding as you can earn up to 54 points per dollar depending on how long you stay, your status and which Hilton cards you own.

- Earn 3x points on stays of 3+ nights at Hilton brands.
- Direct link to registration.

- There is no limit to the total amount of Bonus Points that may be earned during the Promotion Period with this offer. However, there are restrictions on the amount of Base Points that can be earned on a single stay at certain brands.
Quick Thoughts
Hilton has run somewhat similar promotions to this in the past and it has the potential to be nicely rewarding. If you’re a Hilton Aspire cardholder, you’ll earn 54 points per dollar when paying with that card for stays of three or more nights. That’s because you’ll earn the following:
- 10 points per dollar (base points)
- 10 points per dollar (bonus points for Diamond status)
- 20 points per dollar (bonus points from this promotion)
- 14 points per dollar (bonus points earned by paying with the Aspire card)
If you’re only staying one or two nights your return will be 44 points per dollar which is still a very good earnings rate.
Even if you “only” have Gold status from being a Hilton Surpass cardholder, you can still earn up to 50 points per dollar when staying three or more nights:
- 10 points per dollar (base points)
- 8 points per dollar (bonus points for Gold status)
- 20 points per dollar (bonus points from this promotion)
- 12 points per dollar (bonus points earned by paying with the Surpass card)
Note that these calculations are based on you staying at Hilton brands that offer 10x base points per dollar which is the vast majority of them. Two of Hilton’s brands – Home2 Suites and Tru – only offer 5x base points per dollar. That means the maximum number of points you can earn during this promotion period for stays at those two brands are 34x for Aspire cardholders and 31x for Surpass cardholders.
This promotion can stack nicely with the Amex Offers that are available for a number of different Hilton brands; see 4 Amex Offers For 10 Hilton Brands Giving Up To 20% Back for more about those.
For as rewarding as this offer can be for paid stays, it’ll be a little disappointing if you have any award stays during the promotion period as you won’t earn any bonus points. That contrasts to other Hilton promos, such as the one that’s still running at the time of publishing this post. Their soon-to-be-ending Points Unlimited promotion offers 2,000 bonus points per stay and 5,000 bonus points for every five nights you stay. Those points are awarded regardless of whether you booked a paid or award stay which is particularly great if you’re staying on points. That worked out perfectly recently as we had a 10 night stay at the Hampton Inn Deming, NM – one of the rare US-based properties which still only charges 10,000 points per night. With every 5th night being free, we redeemed 80,000 points but got back 12,000 of those points from the Points Unlimited promotion (plus another 10,000 from Hilton’s Milestone Rewards program). If we’d booked that stay under this More Nights, More Points promotion, in comparison it would’ve been a Same Nights, Fewer Points situation.
Still, it’s understandable why Hilton would rather incentivize you to book paid stays rather than award stays over the summer and with up to 54 points per dollar on offer, it’s not like they’re skimping out.
Might be worth booking Amex FHR for some folks, to stack with some of the current Amex FHR/Travel offers (since FHR bookings at Hilton properties should qualify for Hilton elite benefits and points earning).
For example, besides the Amex FHR offer that came out today, some folks have an offer for $200 Amex travel credit on their Plat cards. Both the offers should stack, giving a $350 discount at an FHR stay, even sweeter n this case at a Hilton property.
Huge bummer! Have been racking up the points on award stays…..the 56X on base (pre-tax) works out to ~20% off after taxes….which is good….but extra points on already free was a sweet deal. I finally got my first suite upgrade offer at Hilton 2 weeks ago after over 300 paid nights and 100 points nights as Diamond. It was the last night of my stay, and I declined it as I didn’t want to move for just one night. Thanks for my loyalty! I do love Hilton but their upgrades are awful.
As many others have said, outside of the USA Hilton tends to upgrade much more frequently.
