JetBlue launches status match for AA, Alaska, Delta and United elites

JetBlue has launched a new status match opportunity for elite members of United, Delta, American and Alaska Airlines. Depending on the status that you have with the respective competitor, JetBlue will give you either Mosaic 1 or 2 status (see below for the benefits).

The initial status match is for three months and you’ll have the opportunity to extend it for the entirety of the both the current calendar year AND the following one by reaching various “tile” thresholds (tiles are JetBlue elite status-qualifying units).

The Deal

  • Match American, Alaska, Delta or United elite status to JetBlue TrueBlue status according to the following chart:

  • Matched status can then be extended or increased by the following activity within three months:
    • Mosaic 1 – Earn and receive 10 tiles
    • Mosaic 2 – Earn and receive 25 tiles
    • Mosaic 3 – Earn and receive 40 tiles
    • It’s not possible to obtain Mosaic 4 status through this promotion.

Terms and Conditions

  • To be eligible for the status match offer, applicant must be a current TrueBlue member in good standing and a current Delta Medallion Elite Member, United Premier Elite Member, American AAdvantage Elite Member or Alaska MVP Elite Member (each an “Elite Member”).
  • To be eligible for a status match, the applicant’s first and last names on their other airline and JetBlue frequent flier accounts must exactly match.
  • Status match offer is only valid for an Elite Member who has qualified for such status via flight or card activity. Matched, transferred, or promotional elite status is not eligible for a JetBlue Mosaic status match.
  • Once application is approved, JetBlue reserves the right to revoke participant’s status match and any associated benefits upon a determination, at JetBlue’s sole discretion, of abuse, fraud, wrongdoing or misuse.
  • If the following challenge is completed within three (3) months of the date that a participant is awarded their Mosaic Status Match, the participant will maintain status through the end of the following calendar year, which will be reflected in the participant’s account 4 weeks after the end of the challenge period. Matched status and associated perks, including TrueBlue points issued, if applicable, will expire after three (3) months if the challenge is not successfully completed.
  • To achieve Mosaic 1 status through the following calendar year through this challenge, participants who are matched into any level of Mosaic status must earn and receive 10 tiles within three (3) months of the date that they awarded their Mosaic status match.
  • To achieve Mosaic 2 status through the following calendar year through this challenge, participants who are matched into any level of Mosaic status must earn and receive 25 tiles within three (3) months of the date they are awarded their Mosaic Status.
  • To achieve Mosaic 3 status through the following calendar year, participants must earn and receive 40 tiles within three (3) months of being awarded their Mosaic Status Match. Tiles may be earned for this promotion in only three ways: 1) Travel Spend tiles, 2) Card Spend tiles, 3) purchased bonus tiles.
  • Tiles earned via any other method within the TrueBlue program, including but not limited to tiles that are gifted from another TrueBlue member (such as the Gift a 20-Tile Bonus), or tiles that are selected by the participant via the 20-tile bonus, are not eligible toward requalification of Mosaic status under this promotion.
  • All tiles related to flight activity must be earned and deposited to a participant’s TrueBlue account within three (3) months of the date the status match is granted to be eligible towards required tile threshold. Tiles are earned on travel spend after a customer flies. As a reminder, tiles are earned on flight activity only for the traveler, not the purchaser of the travel.
  • Only flights operated and marketed by JetBlue are valid towards earning tiles eligible for this promotion. Customers must include their TrueBlue number in their JetBlue reservation to earn tiles.
  • All tiles earned from JetBlue Card spend must post to the participant’s TrueBlue account within three (3) months of the date the status match is granted to be eligible towards the required tile threshold.
  • Bonus tiles purchased through points.com will be only eligible towards the required threshold if purchased within three (3) months of the date the status match is granted to.
  • Redemption bookings made with TrueBlue points will not receive any tiles.
  • Participants who are matched will not be eligible to select from the Mosaic Perks You Pick menu. Participants will automatically be granted a Mosaic perk selected by JetBlue. All Mosaic Perks You Pick will be valid until the status end date of 3 months after the initial status match. If the status challenge is successfully completed, the preselected perk end date will be extended for the length of Mosaic status. The Mosaic perk will be automatically awarded as follows: Mosaic 1 status matches will automatically receive Mint Suite Priority. Participants who are matched to Mosaic 2 will automatically receive both Mint Suite Priority perk and Pet Fee Waiver. Terms apply to the use of all Mosaic Perks You Pick.
  • Customers who status match with TrueBlue now will not be eligible for another status match, if offered, for 24 months.  
  • Only valid for legal residents of the United States. JetBlue cards issued by Barclays are only available to U.S. residents, excluding territories.
  • If approved, newly granted status will appear in participant’s TrueBlue account within 6 weeks of application.
  • Upon completing the challenge, Mosaic status must expire before being re-granted within 4 weeks.

Quick Thoughts

This is similar to a couple of promotions that JetBlue ran last year, but with a wider net and more stringent requirements. This time, JetBlue is only matching up to Mosaic 2 and will  allow you to earn up to Mosaic 3 with the promo (Greg used the Delta promotion last year to grab Mosaic 4 for his P2, along with its included helicopter rides).

There’s three ways to earn the tiles necessary to extend status:

  • 1 tile per $100 spent on JetBlue flights, JetBlue Vacations packages and Paisly by JetBlue.
  • 1 tile per $1,000 spent on one of the JetBlue credit cards.
  • Buy tiles for $107 each.

Tiles earned from each source will combine, so you could spend $2,000 on JetBlue flights and vacations for 20 tiles and then spend $20k on one of the credit cards and hit the 40 tile requirement to get Mosaic 3. Conversely, spending $40k on the JetBlue cards or $4k on flights and vacations would get you there as well.

The fact that there’s no expiry could make it even more appealing because you get the current calendar AND the next. So, if you were to apply for a status match in 1/1/25 and acquire 40 tiles by the end of March, you would have status for all of 2025 and 2026. That could be a great deal for folks who can take advantage of the JetBlue footprint…although it would mean that the promo would have to stick around that long.

There’s a lengthy list of terms and conditions, so be sure to check those before applying for the status match. For example, one of the requirements is that the applicant’s first and last names on your JetBlue account and frequent flier accounts that you’re matching from must be must be exactly the same. While that won’t be an issue for most people, there’s undoubtedly some with non-matching names for one reason or another.

I am matched to Mosaic 2. If I get 10 tiles in the three months, will they put me in Mosaic 1 for the next year, or will I be back to 0?

Any idea when this status match promotion is going to end ? I know you mentioned that if you wait until 1/1/25 then you get status for all of 2025 and 2026 but this may just be a 2 or 3 week promo that you need to sign up now for instead of trying to time it.

I tried to do the match yesterday on my phone, but the screenshot I uploaded didn’t have all the required info. JetBlue sent me an email to submit a new application with a better screenshot. I filled it out again and then received a success email a few hours later. This was with Alaska Airlines MVP status.

In terms of getting status for all of 2025 and 2026, I agree that the terms read like you can’t get the status match until 1/1/2025. At the very least, since it takes up to 4 weeks to process, you could still possibly apply in December but not be matched until January, right? Just thinking in case the match is still around then.

Free Flights Everywhere

I have award flights on Jetblue in 3 and 6 days. What are the chances I’m approved in time? Probably a pass for now.
