Quick Thoughts
The Aadvantage deal is especially useful as it will stack with other offers like the Spot and Tango bonuses Greg wrote about as well as with Simply Miles. Keep in mind though, these types of portal bonuses DO NOT earn loyalty points, only redeemable miles. As always, check a site like cashbackmonitor to compare to other portal offers.
So far a number of my purchases – all made yesterday – are tracking through the AA shopping portal. In the AA portal, I’ve got points pending for Babylist, Spot & Tango, Blue Apron, Wine Insiders and Rastellis. Nothing yet for Byte. I don’t show anything tracking yet through Simply Miles.
I am confused. The spend x to get y don’t count. But the Spot & Tang and Bytes of the world do?
Me too most of the time! 🙂 It’s not terribly straightforward what counts for loyalty points and what just counts for redeemable miles. Greg has a whole list of what does count and what doesn’t here, or One Mile at a Time has a good briefing here.
But the short of it is that portal bonuses don’t count, as opposed to non-bonused spending in the portal which does.
I guess we’ll find out as we go! Worst case, thanks to you all, I just grabbed 10K AA miles for about $10 – and the pup got some treats out of it, so he’ll be happy.
Welcome to the team, Tim!
10k points for $10?
Yessir. Spot & Tango – 3,430 miles with $6.87 out of pocket ($20 off with Citi Merchant Offer). Byte – 7150 with $3.19 out of pocket ($100 off with citi merchant offer)
