The Citi Custom Cash card’s usual welcome bonus is for 20K points after $750 spend, but Miles Earn & Burn has uncovered a public link for 30K points after $1K spend.  The Custom Cash card is one of several great add-ons to the Citi Premier card.  By pooling together the points with a Premier card, your Custom Cash points become transferable to airline and hotel partners.

The Custom Cash cash card is one of several fee-free cards that can be combined with the Premier card to create an incredible point-earning combination.  Citi Double Cash and Rewards+ round out this wallet.
Card Offer and Details
Citi Custom Cash Card
20K Points
20K points after $750 spend in the first 3 months

No Annual Fee

Recent better offer: None

FM Mini Review: This is a great card to have and hold for a single category where you spend no more than $500 per month as it represents an excellent return without rotating categories to track.

Card Type: Mastercard

Earning rate: 5x on purchases in your top eligible spend category each billing cycle, up to the first $500 spent, 1x thereafter. Eligible categories: Restaurants, Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Select Travel, Select Transit, Select Streaming Services, Drugstores, Home Improvement Stores, Fitness Clubs and Live Entertainment. ⚬ 1x on all other purchases

Citi’s addition of Choice Privileges as a 1 to 2 transfer partner (get twice as many Choice points) and Wyndham as a 1 to 1 partner have made me bullish on Citi ThankYou points.  Despite its name, the Custom Cash card earns ThankYou points.  Specifically, you’ll earn 5x rewards on up to $500 in the category you spend most each billing cycle: Restaurants, Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Select Travel, Select Transit, Select Streaming Services, Drugstores, Home Improvement Stores, Fitness Clubs and Live Entertainment.  For most people, I think the key is to simply pick a single category where you tend to spend up to $500 per month, write that category directly on the card (e.g. “grocery”), and never use the card for anything else.

If you pick up both the 80K Citi Premier offer and this 30K Custom Cash offer and complete their bonus requirements, you’ll have 110,000 points before even counting rewards from spend.

How do you convert those custom cash points. There is no convert button like you have for the Double Cash?

Additionally, for any who were approved for the 20,000 TYP bonus and missed out on the 30,000 TYP offer, I was able to get Citi to match me to the higher offer with a simple email.

I’ve already posted about it on DoC’s website, but you just email citiapplicationofferissues@citi.com (phone call does not work, I tried about 5 different times), provide name, card number, and screenshots of the elevated offer, and they’ll credit you the additional 10,000 TYP. I got my points within 4 days of sending the email. Best of luck to all!

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I tried this, and was denied 🙁 You win some, you lose some. I called previously too, no success. Was told both over the phone, as well as the snail mail response to my email, that I was not eligible to upgrade to the 30k offer because I was not specifically targeted for it.

Is this card included in the 24-month family rule for Citibank Thank You cards?

Cool. So, could I 1) pick this up now, 2) add Citi Premier after my 24-month wait ends from my Citi Prestige closure and 3) combine the points for the Custom and Premier cards?

Yes you should be able to, assuming Citi doesn’t change the policy and apply the 24-month rule to the Custom Cash in the future.
I got the Citi Premier and less than a month later picked up the Custom Cash, being eligible for both SUBs.

wasn’t it 48 months? or is that only for the premier or which one was 48 months with Citi? (maybe I’m just confused)

The Citi American cards each have a separate 48 month rule (you cannot get a bonus if you have received a bonus for that specific card). There is no family rule for the AA cards.

The main TYP cards (Premier, Prestige, Preferred and Rewards+) have a 24 month family rule. If you receive a bonus on any of these cards, or if you close any of these cards in the last 24 months, you cannot be approved for a new signup bonus.
